Two and a Half Men – The train wreck continues

You know how you can't pull your eyes away from something horribly wrong? I learned it was called "internal masochism" on 'CBS Sunday Morning' a few weeks back. That's what I think I experience when I watch 'TaaHM'.

Last week on Two and a Half Men I said: “I’ve watched all I possibly can. I can’t take any more.”

But … it’s like a train wreck. It’s difficult to pull your eyes away.

Here’s how I amuse myself while I try not thinking about the carnage which lays itself out week after week on the show: I pick something innocuous to engage myself in. For example, on this episode I counted the times the word “Zippy” was used by Berta about Alan and wherever else it might have cropped up in the episode. (For the record, I counted 5 usages last night.) I find I’m more amused at doing that than amused at the episode itself.

It is interesting however to watch the show, visit Brett’s ratings posts and attempt to decipher what’s happening in the minds of the American public. (To be sure, there is scary, scary stuff going on in those minds. And understand I’m not discounting myself from the mix.)

But I must come clean and confess: Charlie Harper made the show. And he made the show better. His character was funny.

Walden Schmidt is not.

I continually ask myself what folks see in Ashton Kutcher beyond the flat abs and hippy hair … and I come up dry each and every time.

Quotes:

“Uh … Berta? What’s going on?” — Walden upon seeing Berta allow a strange, bearded old man in the house
“I’m going to get drunk, eat some chicken and rock this old man’s world.” — Berta

“I can’t believe she’s using I Cant Believe It’s Not Butter.” — Alan spying on Walden and Courtney (Jenny McCarthy) in the kitchen

“Jake. You’ve grown.” — Courtney
“Oh. It’s just my cell phone.” — Jake pressing up against her in a warm hug

Agreed. And the live in maid lady mannnnn shutuppppppp I don’t really care to hear every 10 minutes how bad she wants to taste his sweat! Charlie DID make that show and how many more times do we have to see Ashton naked?

I gave it three tries but I’m done. The writing is so bad and Walden’s character is so not interesting. I can look away from this train wreck.

The show is as good or bad as it always has been.

If you don’t like it now you most certainly didn’t like it back then.
