The League – The Golden Gate Bridge

Pete will never be able to enjoy San Fransisco again, thanks to a certain sex act and a certain sexual deviant.

- Season 3, Episode 4 - "Ol' Smoke Crotch"

This is the first episode where football was only mentioned at the very, very end of the episode. I would guess this was written before the lockout was resolved, and I don’t think it was necessarily a bad thing that football took a backseat. There was a whole lot of plot and threading in the league details would have been tough.

Oh, Rafi. I wouldn’t want to be related to you, I wouldn’t want to be sleeping in the same house as you, but you are very, very funny. Jason Mantzoukas really knows how to play a guy who is blissfully unaware of how awful he is. It’s a real treat whenever he’s on the show, and the Dirty Randy mention was a nice touch.

The baby Jeffery stuff was really funny, but a little short (I did hear that they ended up cutting an extra scene involving him). It’s incredibly comforting to know that Ruxin is tortured by the realization that his child is far from perfect. I’m hoping to see more of this as Jeffrey gets older.

Kevin’s storyline was just OK, and I felt like Taco’s much funnier pee bib storyline got buried by the rest of the plot. That being said, I loved the interaction between Taco and his “lawyer/attorney” Ruxin. Those of you with the season 2 DVD know that Ruxin has a history of having to deal with Taco’s entrepreneurial nature.

I am relieved to know that Pete is not a pedophile. The Au Pair is actually 21, which is super young, but at least he isn’t buying beer for her girlfriends, you know? I also applaud Pete for satisfying his girlfriend before himself. Good man.

Speaking of the Au Pair, I knew what the Golden Gate Bridge was when Pete first brought up the question to the gang. Never been a part of one, but I’m a blogger — I frequent the internet enough to pick up a menagerie of knowledge. Since they didn’t actually show a golden gate bridge in the episode (thank goodness, since Rafi was directly involved), I’ll explain it as gentile-ly as I can … imagine an H. The woman is the horizontal line. Enjoy that visual in your head.

All the best quotes:
“Baby Jeffery, forever unclean!” — Ruxin

“This is like a thousand Christmases rubbing against my balls.” — Kevin on Ruxin’s misery

“As my lawyer-” — Taco
“I am not your lawyer.” — Ruxin
“… As my attorney.” — Taco

“Thank you, by the way, for not making me wear a condom. That was pretty f***ing classy.” — Rafi

You left out when Rafi says let me hear you say yes out loud. This episode was hilarious.
