Two And A Half Men – A surprising Jon Cryer

Yes ... I'm still tuning in on occasion. And I was rather struck by Alan's "alternate roll" as his brother.

I’ll say this for Two And A Half Men: The wily quotations just keep flowing out the television screen each week. They’re usually crass and ‘R’-rated, but they are snappy.

Something that also continues to flow are my thoughts on the attraction of Kutcher’s Walden Schmidt. There isn’t a bigger dope of a character on a current hit television program anywhere. (Oh … come on: Don’t think I don’t know it’s the lanky, taut, stringy-haired, washboard-stomached Ashton the ladies pine for on the program. But still … it baffles me.)

I’ll give a tip of my hat to Jon Cryer, however: The dude pulled out a convincingly mocking (and rather comical) Charlie Harper, complete with Charlie-esque mannerisms and sarcastic, dry tone. The guy does have more depth than his character usually conveys.

Quotes:

“New business idea: Ass coasters.” — Walden

“Just let me get some of Charlie’s personal belongings out of here: Oh … some of his unfinished music … panties … panties … panties … water pipe …” — Alan as he pulls items out Charlie’s piano bench

“I couldn’t score a woman like that if my semen cured cancer.” — Alan

“Berta? How do you feel about casual sex?” — Walden to Berta
“I’m all for it. Just let me finish the dishes and run a comb through my hair.” — Berta

“You know how they say marijuana leads to harder drugs? Well … the human tongue leads to harder organs.” — Alan to Jake after he’s caught necking with his girlfriend in his bedroom

I never liked the show, but the cast all had a natural chemistry pre-Sheen insanity, which this episode lacked. However, the minute Jon Cryer started channeling Charlie, he looked more invested and Alan became more interesting.

If Alan starts channeling Charlie (albeit sane), and Walden starts channeling either Alan or Charlie, I’ll start tuning in. Then again, any scene with Ashton Kutcher in a shower, I’ll definitely tune in for …
