Turkey dinner, redneck style

How I was able to fix a Thanksgiving dinner for my wife before a full day of hunting.

After writing my post for last Saturday, I went to bed dreaming of all the great food TurkeyDinner1and football I was going to enjoy today on Thanksgiving. Suddenly, in the middle of the night, I jumped up in bed, wide awake. I started telling my wife that it is still hunting season and that I can go hunting on Thanksgiving Day instead. She mumbled something about no more Zingers before bed and went back to sleep.

For the rest of the week we argued about how we would spend Thanksgiving. I wanted to go hunting and Lorie wanted a nice traditional dinner. I was about to give in and agree to spend the day cooking a turkey dinner, when she said the only way I would be going hunting was if I cooked the turkey dinner before we left. I was a man with a plan, then.

I got up early this morning and fixed the turkey, stuffing, and gravy for breakfast. I know, you are thinking, “how could you make all of that so quickly in the morning?” It was easy.

On the way home from work Wednesday night, I picked up a can of turkey gravy, a loaf of bread, and a pack of sliced turkey lunch meat. I heated the gravy on the stove and put the sliced turkey on a slice of bread and heated it in the microwave.

I got my wife up, handed her the turkey dinner, and said, “there is your turkey dinner. Eat up, get dressed, and get your butt in the truck. We are going hunting.”

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I hope you have as good a day as I am having.
