CliqueClack has partnered with IFC Films and Allied Integrated Marketing to offer readers in the Washington, DC area a chance to attend an advance screening of the new film Crystal Fairy & the Magical Cactus, starring Michael Cera, Gaby Hoffman, Juan Andrés Silva, José Miguel Silva and Agustin Silva. What’s Crystal Fairy about? On a trip through Chile, a boorish American expat named Jamie (Cera) and three Chilean brothers plan to set off in search of the prized San Pedro cactus and its promise of beachy hallucinations. But in the previous night’s drunken stupor, Jamie invites a free-spirited fellow American (Hoffmann) along on their mescaline-driven road trip, and her devil-may-care worldview gives them more of an adventure than any of them had bargained for.

If you’d like a chance to see this film, which won the 2012 Sundance Directing Award (World Cinema, Dramatic), all you have to do is leave a comment on this post telling us why you want to see this movie. The screening will take place on Wednesday, July 17, 7:30 PM at the Landmark E Street Cinema. This will be the only advance screening prior to the film’s opening on July 19. We will randomly pick 30 lucky readers the evening of Monday, July 15 who will be contacted by email with an Admit Two pass to the screening. Please, one comment per person/email address. Check out the trailer, and tell us why you want to see Crystal Fairy & the Magical Cactus!

  15. Michael Cera is the best. Bound to be a great movie, Dying to see it. Thank you.

  16. I watched the trailer for Crystal Fairy and the Magical Cactus. Drug movies always have one really laid back
character in it. Michael Cera is so laid back, I wonder if he sleeps standing up. Let’s all see what happens
when Gabby Hoffman goes from Crystal Fairy to Hairy Fairy. E St Cinema is a bonus.

  17. E street is my favorite cinema in DC. The movie looks nice.

  18. I think Crystal Fairy & The Magical Cactus is a to-see movie because it probably helps understanding why it is cool (or not cool) to take drugs. Coming from a different perspective (I’m European) I want to watch the movie to see how the director approached the topic. Moreover, E St cinema is a DC institution. It shows the best movies of the city and I go quite often.

  19. Seems like a funny movie, plus it will be nice to see Michael Cera play a different type of character.

  22. because, um, someone whom i know might have had a san pedro cactus for a while some years ago and might have never actually had the nerve to eat it and might still be sort of sad about that. also it just looks great.

  23. Would like to see Michael Cera in something new

  24. I would like to see this movie because George Maharis is a cutie and it will be nice to see a road trip movie that incorporates the female perspective.
