Tonight on the tube: Fighting, baseball and repeats

MMA

MMA

6:00p/5:00 Central

  • Tonight’s another baseball twofer, and the National League Division Series may both wrap-up in sweep fashion. First up, Philadelphia looks to put a nail in the coffin of the Brewers World Series hopes in the NLDS Game 3.

8:00p/7:00 Central

  • As I’m from the St. Louis area, the story of Shawn Hornbeck’s shocking rescue and recovery after his disappearance for years was followed pretty closely. While he’s been mostly quiet since, recouping with family, he’ll be speaking out for the first time about his captivity on CBS’s 48 Hours Mystery.
  • FOX sticks to its guns as it has for two decades, offering up back-to-back Cops. And ABC goes with the old standby of Saturday Night College Football. Let’s face it, nobody’s at home watching TV on Saturdays anymore. That’s why MyNetwork TV is having movie night at home with Walking Tall.
  • So is there a difference between A&E’s Flip This House and TLC’s Flip That House? Other than one word? It seems to me like it’s the same show. I would have at least tried to get a little more creative with the name. After that, tune into (gasp!) another design show, Over Designed, featuring someone who’s obsessed with an “African King” motif.

9:00p/8:00 Central

  • FOX keeps on keeping on with America’s Most Wanted: America Fights Back. Meanwhile, CBS brings the insanely powerful and massive Kimbo Slice to TV in their two-hour special EliteXC Saturday Night Fights. If this works out, it could keep those procedural repeats off of Saturdays and bring in some ratings for the Eye. Spike TV counters with their own fight night with UFC: Jackson v. Griffin.
  • For the few of us left that care about baseball, TBS kicks off their second NLDS Game 3 of the night at 9:30p/8:30 Central with the Dodgers trying to complete their sweep of the Cubs.
  • NBC tries to convince more people to give Knight Rider a try by offering up the first two episodes again tonight, starting with that premiere episode here.
  • The dino-riffic Primeval continues its run on BBC America, with the gang facing off against a saber-toothed threat. Sci Fi offers up a different kind of threat with their sure-to-be-terrible original film NYC: Tornado Terror. They pump these things out like clockwork. Who keeps watching them?
  • For less threatening fare, flip over to CMT at 9:30p/8:30 Central for the third season bow of Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders: Making the Team.

10:00p/9:00 Central

  • As is their custom now, NBC continues the repeats with Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Tonight’s the pedophilia episode, if it didn’t creep you out enough the first time around.
  • John Edward keeps scamming the masses with the latest John Edward Cross Country on TLC. Unfortunately, I don’t think the episode title of “The Light” means he’ll be going into it. Or just watch Paige Davis on TLC with a new Trading Spaces.

11:00p/10:00 Central

  • Louis C.K. gets another comedy special at Showtime with Louis C.K.: Chewed Up.

I love Louis C.K. but had no idea he’s got a new special. I’ll definitely be checking it out.

Jim Norton has a weekly comedy series on HBO on Fri. nights. I think its called “Jim Norton Down & Dirty.” Lemmy is the announcer/dj. The one this week wasn’t that great. Maybe Jim will have Louis on there in a future episode.
