Tonight on the tube: Crash and Crusoe premiere big

Starz

Starz

8:00p/7:00 Central

  • I’m not sure about this, NBC. People don’t read anymore. Still, Crusoe opens with an ambitious two-hour premiere tonight. It’s actually been awhile since we’ve had a true period show and while I know this is a shipwreck show, it’s not like a cell phone’s going to wash up on shore. It does promise flashbacks, a la Lost, to tell the back story of Robinson.
  • Meanwhile, Chris prepares for homecoming on The CW’s Everybody Hates Chris. Then, on The Game, Robin Givens and Rick Fox guest as romantic interests for Malik and Tasha. Or you can watch Jennifer Love Hewitt track a ghost that’s haunting a social networking site on a new Ghost Whisperer on CBS.
  • ABC’s Wife Swap should be a fun switch. Take a California socialite who spends a fortune on clothing and cosmetic surgery and switch her with a Maine lobsterwoman who wears clothes until they’re gone. TLC wants to help women like this (well maybe not the first one) get better at managing their crazy busy lives with the new 15-part series Real Simple. Real Life.
  • Guys don’t care about that crap, though. They’d rather watch WWE SmackDown! on MyNetwork TV. Or watch people prove themselves idiots on a repeat of FOX’s Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? Alternately, SciFi repeats last week’s Stargate: Atlantis while Cartoon Network throws down the third Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

9:00p/8:00 Central

  • Following up those repeats is the new Stargate: Altantis, in which plague refugees face new dangers from the Wraith. Cartoon Network also follows with a new Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
  • Alternately, ABC goes from moms to kids as Supernanny Jo Frost helps another nanny this time deal with a six-year old with ADHD. Or you can flip to TLC and learn What Not to Wear or learn about the Bandido Army on The History Channel’s Gangland.
  • Bella reunites this week with an ex-boyfriend who’s gone from bad boy to cop when her house is burglarized on CBS’s The Ex List. Or if you missed the America’s Next Top Model “Cycle 11 Revealed” special two days ago, here’s your second chance to catch it on The CW.

10:00p/9:00 Central

  • ABC offers up a new 20/20 for you news junkies. Election time is almost here the economy’s in the toilet but gas prices are dropping! Find out what’s going on in the world around us. Or, for the British angle, catch Newsnight on BBC America instead.
  • If you don’t want to watch news at all, Starz is getting into the original programming world with their ambitious two-hour Crash premiere. Starring Dennis Hopper, its only connection to the Oscar-winning film is the notion of seeing how a myriad of lives in LA can collide and interconnect over its 13-episode run.
  • But that sounds complicated, you say? Never fear. TLC has you covered with two new Say Yes to the Dress episodes. Everybody loves wedding dresses! Or how about USA’s The Starter Wife. Debra Messing settles into her regular timeslot and hides out in rehab when her character is revealed as the hollywood tattletale.
  • Life is on just once this week, and it deals with a crushing online love triangle. Watch it and you’ll get that terrible joke. Or count to eight with CBS’s Numb3rs as that’s how many people get gunned down tonight in a coffee shop.
  • Or if creepy and “out of this world (but not literally probably)” action is more your style, find out what a folding man is on SciFi’s Sanctuary. I’ve known men who boasted they could fold … well, never mind. They were probably lying anyway.

Regarding Star Wars the Clone Wars cartoon, episode 3 The Shadow of Malevolence was shown last week. So it’s either a repeat or episode 4.
