(Season 5, Episode 12 – “Return To Queens Blvd” – Season Finale)
So, did you like having the show take us back to New York again? No? Well, you’d better get used to it, because it sure seems like there’ll be a lot more of it next season.
Actually, it wasn’t really all that bad. The scenes with the moms were funny, especially Turtle’s. Mrs. Chase is classic neurotic, over-protective mom. I guess most of these guys grew up without fathers? After all these seasons, I honestly don’t remember if it was ever brought up before, but I’m sure it has.
I need to go a little open-letter here, to the writers of this show, with a suggestion for next season. This finale ended pretty much just as I expected, with Vince once again landing some new gig in the nick of time. Of course, throughout the course of the new season, shit hits the fan and things don’t go as planned. Well, it’s time for things to go as planned, goddammit.
Let’s put Vince through the entire shoot for Scorsese’s movie, giving the best performance of his life. After a few bumps in the road from one thing or another, Vince’s performance earns him an Oscar nomination and … he wins it. The show could take a turn back to golf off the mansion balcony, A-list parties and, of course, more Ari Gold in the house (let’s face it, right now he’s the only funny character on the show.) There are so many directions the show could go from that point. It’s time for Vince to win again, and it’s time to see how E can continue to step up to the plate and make things happen.
Two final things: Did you catch Michael Phelps as the guy who bumped into E on the street? Oh, and Jamie-Lynn and phone sex: need I say more?
See you next summer!
Vince winning an Oscar? No thanks.
