Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade gets RickRolled

As part of the annual Thanksgiving festivities, the Cartoon Network had a float in the big parade for Foster’s Home For Imaginary Friends. Their turn eventually came up on the broadcast, and the Foster crew were ready to sing “You’re My Best Friend.” Ahh, but things were not exactly what they seemed. Matt Lauer kind of blew the surprise, telling everyone that something was coming, but it was still something to see. They ended up RickRolling the parade, but in a very cool way. See it for yourself after the jump. And make sure you stay for the end, it’s very cute.

That was fun … what a good sport Rick Astley is! Pretty funny that they just played the exact soundtrack from his hit, without even trying to pretend he was singing live.

That was really cool of Rick Astley. My kids were asking me what the puppet said at the end.

I have to admit, it was my favorite part of the parade. He looked great and it was nice to have a little something for the adults. OMG – I just said that out loud.

Holy cow… Rick Astley actually looks really good. Now I’m uncomfortable.

I was there live and loved every minute of it, even if we totally saw it coming. ;)

I admit it, I was like 4 or 5 when Rick Astley was big and I loooooooved that song so I can’t help but love rickrolling. My only wish is that he had worn the same pants and did the same dance as in his video. Now THAT would have been classic!
