The Week in Clack – Leno, cable, Christmas and testicles

December 7 to December 13

Clever, Insolent, creative, irreverent; even a little twisted. I speak of the writers here at CliqueClack, and the unique posts they churn out day after day. How could we let seven days go by without highlighting some of the week’s gems?

By now, we’ve all heard the news that Jay Leno will be getting his own show on NBC at 10:00 nightly. But has any other site done three unique takes on that news? I’m betting not. Rich likens Jeff Zucker to The Grinch in his creative song spoof of “You’re a Sore Loser, Mr. Zucker.” Scott clacks about “The Plucked Peacock” and NBC’s decline to mediocrity, and Bob Degon posits that we may be witnessing the death of network television.

Then it’s a good thing we’ve got cable! Leverage‘s second episode carried on the clever missions and entertaining banter we saw in the pilot, “The Nigerian Job,”and Damages with Glenn Close promises to deliver a solid second season to follow-up their smash first season, Debbie tells us in her preview. And over on Dexter? Goodbye Miguel Prado, hello Dexter the lone serial killer.

This week brought us three Guest Clacks. Cate wonders, Is Portugual the New Jersey of Europe? Since she’s lived in both places, she really has something to say about how these two locations are portrayed on television. Ivey reviewed Heroes for us this week, and really dug into the different characters and their storylines. Will Heroes inspire the one-off series? Paul Guest Clacks on this topic, and I for one would love to see a series actually end before it dies.

Boston Legal, for instance. Though it’s had a good run, Jason’s review of the series finale of Boston Legal questions whether it went out on top, with its smaller cast and possible shark-jump.

Other finales this week? The Ghost Hunters episode was its season finale, and also the one that our very own Keith McDuffee went to. Yep, he attended that filming, he’s written a behind-the-scenes look at Ghost Hunters, and he also reviews the finale from his point of view, and lets you in on a few things the final airing didn’t include.

Do you love Christmas specials? CliqueClack Kids highlighted The Grinch this week, but I think adults may love it just as much. Heat Miser and Snow Miser may be two of the most beloved Christmas TV characters in history, but Bill tells us just how he feels about the new version of A Year Without a Santa Claus that will be airing tonight on ABC Family.

Lastly, in trying to decide how to cover — or not cover — American Idol on CliqueClack, we’ve posted a poll to find out what our readers want. Be sure and vote and comment so that your voice is heard.
