This week’s episode of Desperate Housewives was all about the money — the damage it can cause to friendships and the crazy things it makes desperate people do. I’m sure money is on a lot of our minds lately, and I identify with the housewives in various ways:
Susan showed her goofiness by first trying to steal the pearls that Mike gave Katherine (which turned out to be fake), then pleading her case with the school director to take MJ on as a student. She’s such a whack-job, but underneath it all, she’s really a sweetheart. I’m sure moms everywhere can see where Susan is coming from: she’s just trying to offer her son the good things, and will do whatever it takes to get them.
Bree showed off her new Lexus with the built-in fridge, then loaned $20K to Lynette, who’s in dire financial straits after dealing with Porter’s legal bills. But Bree also showed her true colors by tossing out Lynette’s pizza and making her own. Really, in this economy (or any, for that matter), you can’t be throwing away pizza just because it doesn’t have freshly-grated Parmesan. Plus, it’s just plain rude.
Gaby was gleeful over the bonus Carlos got, but I’m glad to see that maybe she HAS changed, because she thanked her seamstress at the end — and it actually seemed sincere. But about the boot camp, I’m having a tough time thinking that Gaby needs to lose one ounce off that tiny body. That’s just crazy.
Anyway, there are things about each housewife I identify with: goofy Susan, sensible Lynette, romantic Katherine, crafty Bree, body-conscious Gaby, even slutty Edie! What about you?
