It just can’t happen! You see, tonight’s The Big Bang Theory episode had Kevin Sussman returning as a possible love interest for Penny. Remember, Stuart’s a good guy. He’s sensitive, intelligent, an artist and — the icing on the cake — he works in the comic book store. Penny had a date with him once before which resulted in Leonard’s green monster (no, not the one on his underwear) getting all riled up. Well, it happened again. But, you see, Penny cannot get together with Leonard. Nope. I’ll tell you why …
Theoretically, I don’t think Penny can get together with any of the four guys on the show, not in a dating manner anyway. Right now the show is successful because Penny’s one of the guys who happens to be a very attractive young woman. While I enjoy the Penny/Sheldon relationship, even that one would throw off the chemistry of the show if it comes to any kind of meaningful fruition.
I look at it like when Mad About You, a series I adored, ruined everything by bringing a baby into the picture. If Penny were to seriously take up with Leonard, things wouldn’t be the same. Perhaps I’m too Sheldon-esque in my own mind, but the BBT world I enjoy would go kerflooey — Leonard would no longer be the nerd he is with the lovely Penny at his side. The other guys wouldn’t react well. They’d have to find a new fourth person for games. Heck, they might end up referring to them as Penny and Lenny. Now, that’s too much like Turkey Lurkey for my liking!
Since Penny called out Leonard’s name on her second date with Stuart, I’m leery of the direction we’re going here. I have nothing against Stuart. He’s no Bawwy Kwipke. She can date him and he can even become a regular on the show. Of course, that too would upset the balance we have going on with the guys and Penny. So be it. It’s better than the Lenny Penny Conundrum.

I’d rather the show shake it up a little bit, and maybe attempt to bring Penny and Leonard together, rather than risk it get stale. If it doesn’t work, break them up, but atleast explore the storyline.
Yeah it’s time for those two to get together again for the season finale so they can break up in the first two minutes of Season 3 Episode 1 *rolleyes*
I’d love to see those two together. At least for a couple episodes. I mean honestly did you like the doctor, or Leslie Winkle? Those were just boring. And another guy for Pennie? Why? Just to see Leonard get crushed every week?
I have enough of that in my real life *sigh*
I still want to see Penny and Sheldon together. It would take forever, and therefore be a storyline that would last a while…
I have to agree with Krystyn I want to see Sheldon and Penny as couple, at least during some episodes. They are trying too hard to make Penny and Leonard a good couple but this attitude just ruins the show.
I love the show and would love it to last forever, but I think the writers have to boost their creativity in order to keep the show as good as it is now.
In time both possibilities, Leonard and Penny getting together or not, could get really boring. They need to do something more.
