Psych – The summer finale is an extravaganza of guest stars

The 'Psych' summer finale comes with a full boat of guests, including Jon Gries, Franka Potente and C. Thomas Howell, not to mention a revisit from Nestor Carbonell As Juliette's love interest ... for now.

- Season 5, Episode 9 - "One, Maybe Two, Ways Out"

For a finale episode, I was really hoping to see the next (and probably final) chapter in the Ying-Yang killer storyline. James Roday said at Comic-Con this year that he planned to have the YY story to be a trilogy of sorts, with the final part to that story yet to come. I guess it only makes sense, then, that we’ll see it conclude in the actual season finale, not this “summer finale” nonsense.

As for the episode itself, it was great to see the Jon Gries episode already, as was reported earlier in an interview with Roday. I have to admit that I was desperately searching for shout-outs to Real Genius‘s Lazlo Holyfeld during all of his scenes, and wasn’t able to come up with any. I’m convinced I missed something, as it’s been many years since seeing Real Genius last. Did you catch anything? Why couldn’t they have thrown in a sweepstakes or a secret lair within a closet?

It was a bit weird and surprising to see C. Thomas Howell make an appearance, even though I think I’d heard he was going to show up at some point. I thought I recognized him when he showed up, but then I just didn’t believe he’d look so … grown up. Franka Potente (Nadia) I remember most from the great movie Run Lola Run.

Then we have Nestor Carbonell as Decklan again, whose part is so awesome in this show that I really hope they can find a regular place for him. However, as you saw in the final moments of this episode, his usefulness is quickly about to expire. The big news of the episode, of course, was Shawn and Juliette really becoming fully aware of just what they feel for each other. I’m still sort of wondering if this was really supposed to be a shocking moment for the viewers, since there’s been so much flirting and behind-the-back talking about Shawn’s interest in Juliette. I felt like she already knew, though when it comes from someone like Shawn — who is almost always joking around — hearing his “serious voice” carries a lot more weight.

What did you think of Shawn and Juliette’s kiss? Do you think we’ll finally see them together when we return to the season, or will Decklan be back for a bit more? If they do get together, will it last? Do you want it to last?

Franka Potenta was also in the first Bourne movie (and like one minute of the second one) so I enjoyed the “bourne it up” moment :)

My favorite moment of the show was the “Name that Tune” reference ….

Until Shawn and Jules kissed. Keith’s right, not a shock, but that doesn’t make it any less satisfying.

However, considering Shawn’s secret, these two still have a long, long ways to go.

This episode was god awful.

Until that final moment. NICE!

Oh and while Franka said “They are ok” in German when they first arrived at the shed in the woods, he answered with complete gibberish (at least to mee. Sounded as if she told him something to say and he botched it up completely). But that was only one of countless moments that really took me out of the episode.

I chose to forget the whole rest of the episode and just enjoy it. Wonderful. So great to see that not all shows are like “Bones” *snigger*

I don’t think they will end up together right away. They will add a “Frasier” like twist to stretch it out at least another half season, maybe a full. I expect them to “really” be together at the beginning of Season 7/end of Season 6.

Like they should’ve done on “Bones”. *likes rubbing it in* ;-)

He said “Geschlechtskrankheit” :)

(That’s German for “STD”…)
