I don’t really have a lot to say here. I wanted to be disappointed that we didn’t get anything on the Yang killer, but how could I be when we did get a reprise of the awesome Cary Elwes as Depereaux, the greatest criminal in the world?
The Princess Bride is one of my all-time favorite movies and any sighting of Cary Elwes is a good one, but the folks over at Psych have created this recurring role for him that allows his strengths to shine through. He’s a smarmy ham and Despereaux is a perfect outlet for that. I think one of my favorite moments was when Shawn and Gus were convinced that Despereaux had escaped (beacsue he had) but when they went to the prison, there he was. The cat that ate the canary expression on Despereaux’s face was awesome.
Plus, I’m a sucker for an art thief.
There is no way a Yang killer episode would have been this much fun, and I embraced the fun last night (even though I do enjoy the darker side of Psych that comes through now and again).
If you still felt you had to be disappointed that there was no Yang killer story arc going on, we did get the moment Shawn and Jules fans have been waiting for … five years coming and they finally made it! It’s cute, it’s character growth and I just hope we haven’t Dave-and-Maddied Psych into failure. I’m not particularly worried about it because there’s so much more to Psych than just Shawn and Jules (it might ruin the chemistry if Shawn and Gus got together. …), and the real-life romance of James Roday and Maggie Lawson could bring some fun to this story line.
What did you think about last night’s episode of Psych?
I will always love Cary Elwes. I think I had a crush on him when I first saw Princess Bride… at the age of 5. Sigh.
*giggle*
The last five minutes…
*snort*
It will interesting to see Shawn and Juliet together. Also interesting is how Juliet will find out that Shawn isn’t psychic. I think she will find out, but not from Shawn, and she will wait/hope Shawn tells her which he will eventually do. I hope that Juliet finds out soon, and actually chuckles along when Shawn goes into one of his Psychic “episodes”,and just dosn’t go into a mad Jules mode.. I would have Shawn tell her in the last episode of the season, Mr. Yin, as a setup for next season.
