In case you don’t know, Red vs. Blue started back in 2003 and was one of the first and arguably the most popular webseries to use machinima — which is essentially using actual video game footage as animation to tell a story. The series’ game-changing 8th season wrapped up earlier this year, but the Rooster Teeth gang has also expanded into live-action shorts. Immersion, their newest live-action series, asks how well video game mechanics would work in the real world. Think Mythbusters if Mario and Master Chief produced it. Brandon and Burnie were nice enough to take a few minutes and let me pick their brains. Listen below (hint: Burnie is the one who sounds exactly like RvB‘s Church).
A few highlights:
We also learn more about RvB‘s future: there will be a 9th season, Monty Oum will continue to provide his CGI talents to the show and due to the events of season 8’s finale, the Reds and Blues will have to move on without Tex and Church. Oh, and it will be awesome.
Immersion is being released an episode a week for the next month. You can find it and their other projects at www.RoosterTeeth.com.
