Parks and Recreation – Snakejuice

Everyone gets hammered on 'Parks and Recreation,' and it may be the single greatest thing that's ever happened on television.

- Season 2, Episode 13 - "The Fight"

Ben: “I feel great; I ran a 5k this morning.”

Leslie: “Really?”

Ben: “No. I threw up in the shower.”

I’m pretty sure that the montage of everyone drunk on Snakejuice was the greatest thing that has ever happened to me. Acting drunk is really difficult, and the fact that all of them pulled it off so differently, yet beautifully is a testament to just how awesome this cast is.

Leslie and Anne have such a fun friendship, but I kind of love them even more when they’re fighting. They’re like Mean Girls and Britney Spears all rolled into one. There was screeching, crying, and even a dance-off. It was amazing. I do kind of worry about Anne though: she’s been dating a parade of douches all season, and now she’s actually hanging out with The Douche. I love Nick Kroll, but Anne and The Douche? That doesn’t even make sense for post-breakup Anne.

Hangover Anne, on the other hand, makes perfect sense: “I feel like such a dick!” It’s sweet of her and Ben to get together to basically talk about how much they love Leslie. In fact, this conversation really seems like the turning point for Ben: he really needed someone to say, “Leslie likes you” before he would have the confidence to actually go for it.

That is the one surprising thing about Snakejuice: for as hammered as it got everyone (and wasn’t Ben sharing the seatbelt with Ron in Donna’s car adorable?), they all went home alone. Seems like Snakejuice isn’t the success everyone thinks it is. If The Douche couldn’t get Anne out of her ski pants after the number of shots that she had, then what chance does anyone have?

I find it interesting that they finally found a way for Anne to work at City Hall. It’s certainly an interesting prospect, but I kind of enjoyed her being an outsider – especially when she gets to remind people of that fact, like when Ron is pushing her into his office. “I don’t work for you!”

However, the reasons for Anne constantly being in meetings were getting flimsier and flimsier, so it’ll be nice to not have to worry about the pretense. Plus, she’ll be working with Chris and I’m still holding out hope that they’ll get back together. If they do that could pave the way for a Leslie/Ben relationship without the threat of one or both of them losing their jobs. Basically, I’m for anything if it means Adam Scott staying on the show forever.

I’m missing The League so much, so when I saw Kroll, I shouted out loud, “Hey look, it’s Ruxin!”
