Burn Notice comic – The missing months!

While 'Burn Notice' jumped forward six months between seasons four and five ... all is not lost. You can read all about Michael's adventures with the CIA!

When Burn Notice returned this season, the timeline jumped forward six months with Michael’s mission to bring down the last of Vaughn’s organization. At first, I was a little disappointed in not seeing Michael bring down the whole organization, but after some reflection I realized that wouldn’t have been Burn Notice, but a different show. That story would have made an interesting spin-off movie similar to Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe

All is not lost, the story is being told — in an online graphic novel.  USA Network in conjunction with DC Comics have created an interactive online comic, A New Day, that picks up right where season four ended. The story starts with Michael about to enter a CIA facility and goes from there. Max (Grant Show) actually makes his first appearance in the comic, not on the season premiere.

As of today, only three issues of the story have been released online. I was very surprised that they read just like the television show. It’s difficult to represent a real person as a comic drawing, but the characters are easily recognizable. I was also happy that the writing is reflective of the characters and their nuisances. I could hear Jeffrey Donovan and Bruce Campbell saying their lines in my head, as I read the story, especially the Michael voice-overs.

If you are a Burn Notice fan and want to know what happened during the missing months, make sure to read A New Day. The comic is available online, on Facebook, and on your iPhone and iPad.

Once you have checked out the first three chapters, come back and share your thoughts on what Michael was doing with the CIA!
