Poll – Who is TV’s wackiest doctor?

Whether timey-wimey, lupus-assessing (it's never lupus) or gross and crustacean, there sure are lots of kooky doctors on TV. And some of them even SAVE lives!

If TV has taught me anything, it’s that doctors are almost always incompetent. Why do we put our lives into their hands time after time? Oh right, because they’re loveable and funny. … I feel like television has lead us down a dark path in that regard. In any case, we here at CliqueClack have compiled our favorite wackadoodles with PhDs or MDs … or at least the “doctor” title.

Me: First and foremost — Zoidberg of Futurama. Adorable, silly and expert at the mercy killing. Great character, not so good doctor. In that same vein, The Simpson‘s Dr. Nick. He’s just so cheerful, and he teaches us about the wonderful window to weight gain! Lastly … gotta go with the Doctor (if you’re asking “Doctor who?”, congrats, that’s the name of the show). This past weekend’s episode confirmed that he is a doctor of medicine (also cheese making, but that’s beside the point), plus he has saved many, many lives in his 900ish years. Yep, I’m pretty sure the Doctor is more qualified to be a doctor than my other two choices.

Rachel: “Dr. Spaceman (30 Rock)!”

Chuck: “Dr. Smith from Lost in Space!”

Brittany: “The down point of my audition for The Voice was when I walked in and when the producer said “Hi, everybody,” I said “Hi, Dr. Nick!” and nobody got it except for the one guy next to me.”

Michael: “I’m going with House and Hawkeye (M*A*S*H*). While I haven’t seen House for the lasts couple years accept for the occasional clip or segment (I’ll catch up one of these years), I love his crotchety demeanor and oft-seen, truly wacky sidesteps of mind. House personifies the strange superbly when he’s on his game, something always attractive to me (go figger.) And Hawkeye? Come on: the dude digs Groucho. ‘Nuff said.”

Deb: “Agreed, Dr. House has got to be in there.”

An: Hawkeye Pierce, the silliest, smartest, funniest doctor ever. Who also had moments of true dramatic brilliance about the “weightier” issues of war and life in general (due exclusively to fantastic writers, a lot of the time of which his alter Alan Alda, was a part.) Would Watson (Sherlock) count or Bones from Star Trek? They aren’t wacky, but they have wacky friends and get into wacky scenarios. Dr. Venture‘s bitter, but I think cloning your kids and having a Monarch Butterfly as a nemesis definitely counts as wacky.”

Brett: Orpheus (Venture Bros.) is a doctor, and would certainly qualify in the whacky department.

Bob: “Gotta include Dr. Spaceman. Dr. Cox from Scrubs would be a good addition.”

Kona: “I would say Todd from Scrubs. He made sexual harassment wacky!”

So, who do you think is the wackiest doctor on the boob tube? Did we miss your favorite? Let us know in the comments.

The Doctor has been known to be a Doctor long before last week’s episode. In his third incarnation at the very least.

I’d have to disagree and say he was known to be a doctor from the first episode, at least according to the criteria for this post. And, well, the whole title of the show and the character and all that namey-wamey stuff.
