The search for “the next big thing” … according to Simon Cowell

Has 'The X Factor' judge and former 'American Idol' alum lost his marbles?

When I read Simon Cowell Says ‘Jersey Shore’ Inspired ‘X Factor’, I did a double take.

I know things have changed since I was a kid. Things have gotten radical and unexplainable. Incomprehensible. Head-scratching.

For example, I saw a guy just yesterday running out of a restroom when he realized he was late for something, pants in hand in a failed attempt to keep them on his hips. He didn’t have a belt and his pants were too, too big for him. Only then did I realize they were meant to worn that way, loose and to the point where his ass was hanging out. And believe me, his ass was definitely hanging out of them. Please understand when I state it wasn’t the “fashion statement” kids (and others) think this mode of fashion is today — his ass was full-on exposed, regardless of the fact it was covered in navy blue underwear. People around me were outwardly laughing at the guy.

For some reason, this form of dress is inconceivable to me. Let me just say there’s a big difference between a fad such as Dittos Jeans (which were hugely popular when I was in school; every girl had to own a pair) and your ass hanging out from ridiculously low slung pants for whatever reason.

So now, with Cowell’s article admonition “… that was the reason why I came to New Jersey: I wanted to find the next Snooki (Nicole Polizzi)” I’m rather stunned. I once subjected myself to a 10 minute selection of Jersey Shore late one night while channel surfing. (It was the one where Snooki got in the accident while driving in Italy. That’s 10 minutes of my life I will never get back.)

My Question: Why would Cowell want to find another person such as Snooki to foist upon us?

Cowell knows talent. That’s a given. But wanting to find the next Jersey Shore personality is baffling as all get out.

Please, people: Comment below and explain Cowell’s underlying intent to me.

Snooki makes money and she gets attention. The things Simon loves most in this world are money and attention. That’s why he wants to find the next Snooki.

OMG! I can’t believe he said that but I agree with Rob. All Simon really cares about is himself and making money.
