“Sookie is mine!” – Gus
Tonight’s Psych Halloween show, “This Episode Sucks,” was another sure-to-be-classic themed episode! This time Shawn and Gus are up against vampires! And, these were not nice Twilight vampires, but rather human blood-sucking vampires. Even Carlton bought into their theory that vampires were at play — yes, Carlton! Not only did Carlton believe it, but so did the coroner, Woody. Juliet was the only non-believer.
The vampire theme led to some hilarious Psych moments. My favorite is pictured above, when Shawn and Gus first acted out their theory that a vampire was responsible for the death. Look at Gus’s face — how can you not laugh hysterically at that? Add in, “Sookie is mine!” — priceless!
Poor Count Blacula — no one remembers you. I’ll be honest, I’d never heard of him, but I had heard of Count Chocula (though Gus looked nothing like him). I looked up Count Blacula and Gus was definitely a match for him. Has anyone seen this movie? I was a bit disappointed that Shawn and Gus didn’t stay in their vampire garb for the full episode. Their costumes were … well … take a look….
Though, if they stayed in their costumes the whole time, we would have missed out on seeing them with the vampire hunter paraphernalia: garlic thrown across the interrogation room floor, holy water mister, silver chains, wooden stakes (how cute was Gus with his belt), and Shawn’s bow. Given that, it was definitely worth them switching teams from vampires to vampire hunters.
The case itself was not all that interesting, but was a brilliant set-up for a vampire theme and even more so for Carlton’s new relationship. Of course, it was obvious to everyone other than Carlton that she was up to something, but in the last scene at the jail … aww! She was stealing the blood for a good reason and was desperate to save her brother. That doesn’t make it right, but it was inspiring to see the law-abiding, rules-are-not-to-be-broken Carlton give her a chance. I hope it’s not the last time we see the former Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Other stuff:
I thought I’d written this post last year when Smallville did the Hangover, but it was actually Chuck. However, I was way over it then:

It wouldn’t have matter a bit if they’d run this episode during the summer or not … its still tired, cliched and below this writing staff.
This episode was, as you’ve stated, was classic.
Another great song use: in the vampire bar, Cry Little Sister was playing. You may not know it by name, but if you ever saw The Lost Boys, you know that song instantly!

That was a good song too. I didn’t know the reference, it’s been so long since I’ve seen The Lost Boys. Hmm … may need to watch that this weekend.
