We knew it would be between one guy and one girl leaving tonight. But the drama on American Idol absolutely had to be whittled down to the Bottom Three of each group, then to the individuals themselves. It’s not Idol if that doesn’t happen, you know.
In the end, it was a showdown between Shannon Magrane who had a tough time the previous night (I mentioned the song she sang was too much for her to handle) and Jeremy Rosado who I’ve never been on board with.
It took us a while to get there with all the hullabaloo Idol threw at us — things like the group song (which I alternately enjoyed and screwed my face at), the Ford commercial in which the Top 13 cavorted about and Jimmy Iovine’s odd and rather forced message about the contestants. (Weird.)
I’m happy to say I got my wish: Jeremy got dismissed by the judges over Elise Testone. The puzzling thing to me is the fact he was one of the three contestants who sang for his life not long ago and then hand-picked by Steven, JLo and Randy to come into the fold of the other 10 hopefuls. So really — what was the point? Sometimes Idol just doesn’t make sense.

I can’t figure out why Jeremy performed his song the way he did. His phrasing and breathiness was strange, and you’re right he deserved to leave.
I’m a bit surprised that Heejun is starting to grow on me. Maybe it’s because of the song choice (what an amazing tune) but I don’t think so. It’s a difficult song to sing, and you have to have the chops to pull it off. He did.
You know me and Whitney Houston, so I cringed a lot at the girls. A. Lot.
I wonder when Tara would chime in on the Houston theme. I have to agree I cringed on some of the songs, but mainly because I liked Whitney Houston. She has been the biggest name Randy has dropped from his parade of dropped names, and very few can handle those songs.
Watched the results show with my son-in-law and began to look amazingly brilliant as what I told him was about to happen actually did happen. Hope I don’t have to watch with him later in the season when the predictions get harder.
One missed call: I honestly thought Shannon would be [and deserved to be] lower than Elise. However, Shannon has received the underground Conservative Christian vote and is being promoted on Christian radio stations. That is a solid block almost as strong as Country Music voters. [If you don’t believe me, ask Adam Lambert who went up against it a few seasons ago.] May make for an interesting season.
I did not see the show but would have put Shannon in the bottom two instead of Elise. But they did both have a bad night. I am going to say it….I was dreading the Houston night more than any. I knew that one of them was going to do “I will Always Love you” and I was really dreading that the most. But here it is (and I hate to admit this) but Jessica did a fantastic job on the song and for once in a very long time I did not hate it. I do believe that Jeremy was the right choice, mainly because I think Elise is better than that. I hate that they had to do Houston it is just to hard to pull off. Skylar is surprising me. She annoys the you know what out of me but she is quite the performer. I can’t wait to see what Phillip comes up with next. Now for Jessica, she can sing, she can sing the phone book and it would be good. But let’s not forget what happened to Pia, if she keeps up with the ballads or what ever you want to call them will she have the same fate as Pia?
I was shocked that Jinny Iovine (sp) was so insensitive and rude
in making the comment “they don’t make Armani suits that big” (I’m aparphrasing)
Jermaine looked shocked and upset and I really felt for him.
He could barely answer the question Ryan asked about how he felt re the judges comments.
He was thrown off by what he’d just heard from Jimmy.
What was the point of answering back to Steven Tyler at the expense of
a contestants feelings, and especially because he is such a big man.
Was Jimmy Iovine one of those kids who bullied other kids in high school.
