Bob’s Burgers – A love story

Nothing says Bob’s Burgers like a take on a classic flick such as Dog Day Afternoon.

And that’s exactly what we got, complete with all the angst and drama and suspense of that outstanding film from 1975.

Hokay … so maybe it wasn’t quite the same. I mean, it is Bob’s Burgers were talking about here. But anyone who’s seen Dog Day Afternoon will appreciate the nice little touches nodded at in this aptly titled “Bob’s Day Afternoon” chapter.

One of my favorite scenes was just before Bob (strapped in Kevlar) took burgers to the bank, the entire Belcher clan in tow saying their goodbyes to the head cook and patriarch. What a circus. Lynda wailing, Gene confessing he doesn’t know what sex is, Louise promising to write a school report on her dad’s heroics. I was guffawing:

How could you not be touched? How could you be blind to the adoration this family has for the head of the household? You’re heartless if you don’t see the passion contained within each and every family member.

Honestly … *sniff* … if that video doesn’t exude love, I don’t know what does.  

Notes:

• Mickey the bank robber? He was played by none other than Bill Hader (The Venture Brothers, Saturday Night Live) in the role Al Pacino made famous. And the Charles Durning stint of Sgt. Bosco? The terrific Gary Cole. (Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law, American Gothic)
• Have we seen the dude in his underwear and roller skates actually talk before? We did this episode. I want this dude’s back story!
