San Diego Comic-Con: The 2012 edition of geekdorknerd-dom is here

And one of the biggest geekdorknerds of all (me) will be right in the thick of it.

Someone once said an adult’s anticipation during the weeks leading up to the San Diego Comic-Con is akin to that of a child ready to burst knowing s/he’s headed to Disneyland. I’m here to tell you that statement is absolutely 100% accurate. And right this very moment I’m at fever pitch.

It doesn’t matter how many times I’ve been to The Con — I still get excited talking about it, I obsess over the day-to-day schedules, who’s going to be where and I’m just about to leap out my skin as Preview Night creeps slowly toward my over-abundant anticipation this afternoon. I’m Charlie Bucket about to enter Willy Wonka’s famous Chocolate Factory.

There’s so much to do, so much to see, it’s not even funny:

  • I’m headed back to the Wilfred and Bob’s Burgers press rooms Thursday and Friday respectively
  • I’m stupidly happy about the the Grimm press room and panel
  • The CW’s upcoming Cult is on the horizon and I’ll be checking that out nine ways to Sunday
  • There are plenty of events surrounding The Walking Dead I’ll be poking my nose into
  • Panels and more, more more on cartoon voice personalities, parties and other monkey business

And that’s just scratching the surface, folks. I have tons of friends here, associates I’ve done business with, old acquaintances … and all of us look forward to bumping into one another during our annual pilgrimage. Add to that the art show, the stuffed-to-the-gills main floor, the exclusives and hobnobbery up the wazoo. Comic-Con may seem like a daunting task, an insurmountable challenge … but I’m up to the challenge.

With six of the CliqueClack staff on site, there’s bound to be plenty of coverage of the 4½ days of non-stop geekery. Plenty of stories. Gads of opportunity. Tons of sights to behold. Adventure at every turn.

But there’s one thing I’m really looking forward to this year. It’s the same thing I look forward to every year at Comic-Con: The exhilaration of simply being right smack-dab in the middle of the crowds and the laughter and the applause and the surprises and everything that goes with them. I may not exactly look the type, but believe me: I’m one of the biggest geekdorknerds of them all.

And that goes double when a cadre of Princess Leias are in the vicinity …

Glad to see that there will always be Leias of many sizes to fill the metal bikini.

. . . . .

Otto66:

For me, the words “always” and “never” are seldom used. Usually, you can rarely use them with the confidence they will “hold water.”

However …

… in the case of your “… there will always be Leias … to fill metal bikinis,” I believe that’s a pretty good use of the word “always.”

I agree. Always and never are absolutes. But to write “as long as there will a… ” seemed overly long and not nearly as pithy.
