Bio: While CliqueClack is my first foray into the blogosphere, it’s just one stop along my long journey in writing. With my first book of short stories bounded via copy machine when I was still a lad, my evolution along the trajectory of writing has far exceeded that of my drawing; that first book was fronted by a rather pedestrian hand drawing of “Leatherhead”, of TMNT fame, and my ability hasn’t grown beyond rudimentary since those days. But the baby’s cute!

When dumb shows attract smart people

Two things to clarify before we begin: Definitions: Stupid shows make us groan, and they even take the low road from time to time (or always), but they generally have smart concepts, smart writers, smart jokes, or all three. In contrast, dumb shows simply have no saving grace. They’re made for a group of people […]

Burn, baby Burn (Notice)

“Michael, what is going on here?” — Madeline Westen I’ll tell you what, Madeline Westen — Burn Notice is back! In case you’ve been asleep these past few years, Burn Notice has been sizzling up USA Network, and returns for part two of its second season on Thursday, January 22nd. Now, I don’t know about […]

Management lessons from Michael Scott, Dunder Mifflin Scranton

Dunder Mifflin Scranton’s riding high. While all other DM branches have been hit hard by the current economic storm, the team from Scranton, PA is going strong. TV presidents past – the worst to the best

With the real White House changing hands this week, I started to reminisce about some of my favorite TV presidents past. In no particular order (other than from worst to best): Allison Taylor, 24: No offense intended, President Taylor, but we just don’t know much about you yet. To be honest, I don’t know any […]

Reversing Damages: One survivor’s story

I did it! I’ve finally broken the spell. After a season of self-loathing and a hiatus spent first forgetting and then looking forward to its’ return, I have freed myself from the hold that Damages had on me. Whew! It feels good to get that monkey off my back. Though I suppose I should really […]

Big Love: How many wives are too many?

Not a common question, I’ll grant you. But with Big Love returning January 18thon HBO, it seems like a pretty reasonable one. My wife (yep, just the one for right now) and I caught season two again recently and had forgotten how the finale ended. Bill (Bill Paxton) and Ana (Branka Katic) share an intimate […]

Open Letters: Network television primetime schedulers take heed

Dear Consumer-Hater, First of all, I’d like to mention that, unlike many who bemoan the woeful selection offered today, I enjoy the assortment of television that’s out there right now. Most of it airs on cable … but I digress. Please pass along my support to whom it may concern. Now on to you. Every […]
