Ratings Clack – The hammer falls as cancellations roll in

As we are on the eve of upfronts, news of cancellations and renewals is flying in. This week we take a look at the fates of some of those bubble shows, and ponder what Ashton Kutcher replacing Charlie Sheen on ‘Two and a Half Men’ means for the CBS Monday.

Ratings Clack – Iffy results for the first full week of sweeps

Overall, the first full week of sweeps was a bit slow. The big surprise came as NBC’s ‘The Voice’ managed to improve on what was an outstanding debut the week before. Over on cable, can you imagine ‘L&O CI’ on USA beating new ‘L&O LA’ on NBC?

Ratings Clack – The Voice has a great debut

NBC had the big news for the week, with the premiere of ‘The Voice’. Over on cable, week two of ‘Game of Thrones’ was right on pace with the premiere, while ‘Sanctuary’ gave ‘SGU’ fans a little more ammo.

Ratings Clack – Paul Reiser can’t even survive on NBC

The final tally is in, and ‘The Paul Reiser Show’ came up just 162 episodes short of the mark he set with ‘Mad About You’. Over on cable, HBO kicked off ‘Game of Thrones’ to a less than spectacular number, but does that even matter?

Ratings Clack – Bad news for the CBS Monday, and Paul Reiser

The decided lack of new ‘Two and a Half Men’ episodes is starting to really show in the ratings for the other Monday comedies at CBS. Over on cable, ‘Deadliest Catch’ is back, and much bigger than Norm.

Ratings Clack – Basketball is still big and people hate Chaos

The NCAA scored for CBS, and then the CIA bombed for them. Over on cable, AMC released ‘The Killing’ to a modest premiere audience, but I’m more interested in what the numbers for the ‘Game of Thrones’ preview might mean.

Ratings Clack – Music and dance boost Grey’s and Castle

Dancing with quasi-stars is still wildly popular, and able to boost cop shows that follow it, as ‘Castle’ and ‘Body of Proof’ will attest. There was music in the air for ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ as well, with the show seeing its best numbers since the season premiere.
