Yes, that means low testosterone. With HBO’s Entourage season six starting July 12th (10:30 PM), I’d like to review my theory with everyone. Certainly Low-T does not apply to Ari in any way. The boys I’m referring to are: Vince, Johnny, Turtle, and E. I see it written here and there on the Internet: some of the audience thinks they are soft. (Although, not I, because I am a non-judgmental dove.)
To explain my theory I must relate something I saw many years ago as a teen. We were gathered in a parking lot to watch two opposing brutes and their entourages do battle. The exchanged perverse insults:
Brute #1: “I don’t like the cut of your jib, mister!”
Brute #2: “You have inelegant penmanship!”
(Words changed to protect innocent eyes.)
Then, to our horror, Brute #1 ripped off his shirt, pulled out a wicked sharp razor, and drew it across his chest. He sliced his nipple in half and said, “No pain.” Brute #2 and his entourage recognized superior craziness, backed down and dispersed posthaste.
Mightily impressed at the display, we all executed perfect golf claps and went away in search of other diversions.
Ari, to be sure is Brute #1, having many nipple slicing moments. As a result, he is a fan favorite, and the brutes (us audience) leave him alone. Even when he is brought low, he exhibits high octane testosterone awesomeness. Vince, Johnny, Turtle and E very seldom show the audience (us brutes) those high octane testosterone moments.
So here’s my challenge to Vince, Johnny, Turtle and E. Make us brutes back down. Show us your greatness, show us your virility! Here are some situation suggestions to help you get your chance:
What say you my fellow brutes? What can Vince, Johnny, Turtle and E do to show they are not suffering from Low-T?

The funny of “Entourage” stems from the fact that these guys are softies who are also a-holes, sometimes overthinking ones, who ruin their own luck over and over by doing typical men stuff. Not calling. Two timing. Being an a**. Not being a** enough. That’s why the show is funny.
So you now ask for them to be… err… more brutal? That’s the only thing that’s really not missing from the show at all, because if there were to be only one single instance of testosterone-driven brutality, all the funny would be gone, ruined, for the misfortune these guys are always ending up in is a result of haplessness and not unecessary violence and brutality.
Jhonny Drama’s and Ari Gold’s Testosterone is all the show needs among the five leads. Threatening to be violent is all those guys do, or maybe a single punch. They are now in Jersey for the new Coppola (?) flick, so there’s enough potential Testosterone in future extras/guest actors to be had but please not in the main cast.
To be honest, at the moment I don’t think there’s _anything_ missing from Entourage. The show’s da.. uh.. .eer… “really” near perfect as it is, it would be a shame if they upped the brutality. Or brutal idiocy. Because I understand idiocy coming from emotions but not violence from emotions and resulting idiocy. There’s no reason to fight in the first place, it’s always easier to walk away and not hurt someone. Emotional and relationship as well as monetary mishaps is hat makes the show funny and I like it that way. Nobody needs to get hurt on this show.
Hey and I guess that’s also why I like Friday Night Lights… it’s about the most brutal sport imaginable and still stays classy even in a redneck Texan town in the middle of nowhere. (if you disregard the whole murder storyline which I chose to do).
Not more brutal – The word I would choose is dynamic.
I guess I’m just having a hard time with your analogy of brutes and brutes *scratches head* – is all that some kind of Westside Story reference?
Anyway, I like how E is always getting the short straw when it comes to women, Vince always ending up on top (*snicker*) and how Turtle got the famous girlfriend now. And how drama lost his girl because he was an idiot. First overly relaxed, then overly jealous, then overly emotional on “The View”.
I think what we’ll get in the upcoming season is a mature Turlte *gasp* who really goes miles for his girl, maybe a serious relationship for E (there were signs) or maybe he just really gets his breakthrough as an agent (which is the other form of success in these guys’ lives). Maybe E becoming successful and then getting the girl he wants and really just going for it, doing what he never did, just demanding something based on his success. Based on what he built for himself. Is that something you were thinking of? :-)
The stalker for Drama maybe on the set of his show – maybe, but I don’t think so. The movie is a good idea – but not for Viking Quest, for the show he’s doing right now. Cancellation – then a sudden movie deal. Maybe Drama getting a ton of money from that and thinking he doesn’t need to stand in Vinces’ shadow any more. T enough?
A kid? Nah. I think that’s something for a later season (hopefully). Maybe for Turtle, but better for E and his girl.
Oh and maybe Ari’s daughters could soon enough be old enough to start dating. Ari really getting in the face of some 17year old Jock. That would be awesome :-)
Here’s an instructive scenario: E meets a girl. She insists that he start sitting down to urinate at her house. He does this without the slightest hesitation. Ari would resist sitting down to urinate. He is in his glory standing up. ;)
Oh god no. That’s… perfect :-)

I don’t need false “dynamic” added to this show. The characters are nicely established and make a good group of traits as a whole.
Besides, the guy that rips his shirt off before a fight is always the guy that is just hoping nobody will find out he is actually soft. If that fails, he hopes someone grabs him from behind before any punches get thrown.
