Diary of a Veronica Mars virgin – New couples, more clues

Veronica Mars(Season 1, Episodes 17-20)

I’m a little surprised that I’ve gotten this far into the season without bringing up a very important point. How terrible is Veronica’s flashback wig? I can’t help laughing whenever the show flashes back and poor Kristen Bell is wearing that limp mop head of fake blonde hair. I understand that the show probably had a pretty small budget, but that thing is really the best they could come up with?

Anyways, onto the more important things, like Veronica and Logan suddenly becoming a couple. Yowza. Frankly, I’ve been enjoying Keith and Alicia Fennel much more than Veronica and Logan.

“Kanes and Abel’s”

This episode gets super bonus points for me for actually featuring a clip from Clash of the Titans. Harry Hamlin is clearly a great sport. It was probably lucky that this episode got those bonus points, because it was pretty boring otherwise. I enjoyed watching Veronica and Wiedman go after each other, but most of the stuff with Koontz’s daughter was dull.

The other great part of this installment was Ken Marino as Vinnie Van Lowe, Keith’s “competition.” He was pretty hilarious and I certainly hope we get to see more of him. That character has “recurring” written all over him.

“Weapons of Class Destruction”

These next few episodes were exactly what I was looking for during my last diary. They focused on things going on in Neptune High, with the focus on the characters that we have spent a season getting to know.

The case of the week in this episode featured a bunch of fake bomb threats and Jonathan Taylor Thomas playing an ATF agent. That odd plot line aside, this was a great episode, featuring a kiss between Veronica and Logan. I don’t know how I feel about them becoming a couple. I thought that Veronica and Leo were so cute together, I’m a little bummed that their relationship is over. In any case, I’m keeping an open mind about Veronica and Logan.

It looks like Duncan is really incriminating himself by running away. I’ve never really considered him a viable suspect, but maybe I need to rethink that.

“Hot Dogs”

Sometimes the case of the week can get a little Scooby Doo for me. It seems like when a new character pops up, who isn’t the victim, they end up being the culprit almost every time. As soon as Veronica and her nerdy client went to the dog pound and met up with Hans, I fingered him for the dog snatcher.

With that slight complaint aside, I didn’t think this was a bad episode. After all, it did feature Alyson Hannigan. Is it wrong that I really enjoyed watching Aaron beat the tar out of Trina’s boyfriend?

“M.A.D.”

It’s funny how much things change in only four years. This was probably a novel idea at the time, with an angry boyfriend blackmailing his girlfriend with a dirty video on his phone. These days, I feel like I hear about kids sending around dirty pictures every other day. I thought this was one of the best set ups by Veronica as she staged a bunch of events all in an effort to create a nasty website against the boyfriend.

As I said, Keith and Alicia are great together. I hope that by bugging Kane software Veronica didn’t totally blow their relationship.

You’ll hear people bash season two a bit, but I enjoyed it very much and judging from the types of episodes you like in season one, you’ll love it. Lots of high school stuff!

Funny in Kanes and Abels I thought the best part was Veronica trying to protect the daughter. The girl being constantly distracted from studying was my least favorite case of the season.

I also find it interesting that this show keeps 2 of the 3 kids from Home Improvment employed.

What ? You prefer Veronica/Leo to Veronica/Logan ? But Veronica is not very interested by Leo, she likes him like that it’s just obvious and she uses him mostly of the time.

With Logan the attraction was here since the beginning (at first in a love/hate kind of way) of the serie and the actors has a “white hot” chemistry, one scene with these two is captivating it’s simple the other couple (Keith and Alicia included)just can’t compare one second.
They are similar and very different in the same time, both with flaws, both witty,outsmart,funny..they simply complete each other, it’s just the perfect match for me in a network tv serie.
Maybe you like simple, light and uncomplicated relationships..but seriously it’s not very sexy or entertaining.
Rewatch these episodes and you will see what i mean.

Just wait until you see the next 2 episodes…

I liked Veronica and Leo at first. But, yeah, BORING. No drama there. Logan is a million times more interesting.

Although, and I don’t want to spoil too much for Bob, Logan whipped isn’t as interesting.

I’ll agree with that. But I’d take whipped Logan over no Logan anyday.

Yeah in season 3 he is not as interesting but he stay more interesting than all the other male characters, by far.
