Dollhouse Season One DVD – CliqueClack Giveaway

By now a lot of you have probably read about the Dollhouse Season One DVD set, and the special features that come with it. Two special features of note are the original, unaired pilot titled “Echo,” and the also unaired episode “Epitaph One,” which was originally tapped to air as the first season’s 13th episode. Brett has already weighed in with his thoughts on “Epitaph One,” and, just today, so has Ivey. I’ve caught it, too, and all I will say is that any true fan of Dollhouse simply must watch it; it’s a huge talking point for the series, and gives us a unique view of the series as a whole.

Today, the first season of Dollhouse is available in stores, on both standard DVD and Blu-ray, and to celebrate that we’re giving away three standard-definition copies to random commenters to this post! All you need to do is tell us why you’d like to own the DVD set. That’s it! Just leave the comment by next Tuesday, August 4, at 5 PM ET. We’ll pick three winners completely at random, and alert the winners after the contest ends. Only one entry per person, and you must have a valid U.S.-based mailing address. Not following these guidelines voids your entry. Good luck!

July 28, 2009 at 5:34 PM

I like free stuff.

July 28, 2009 at 5:42 PM

I wanna own it because I love Joss Whedon and I own everything he’s done!

July 28, 2009 at 5:56 PM

Because if I like it I might watch the show in the fall and the show can use all the viewers it can get.

July 28, 2009 at 6:50 PM

I’m entering in a totally selfless act. LOL But it’s pretty much true…I enjoyed what I saw of this show but my mom loved it and tried to catch it every week and she would DIE if I won this and was able to give it to her…I’m thinking Christmas. haha

Thanks!
Lauren

July 28, 2009 at 6:52 PM

I want it because I don’t watch shows anymore until they get a second season.

July 28, 2009 at 7:43 PM

I want it because i like Whedon’s stuff and if there’s no more Buffy/Angel, at least there’s some Dollhouse.

July 28, 2009 at 7:53 PM

Because I believe that the best way to honor Whedon’s material is to be able to own a piece of it.

July 28, 2009 at 9:04 PM

I want it because I’m cheap and don’t wanna pay for it, even though I love the show. I’m also greedy and I like free stuff. Gimme!

July 28, 2009 at 9:34 PM

Because I loves me some Eliza

July 28, 2009 at 9:52 PM

I would love this because I’m a dedicated fan who saw each regular season episode and now I wanted to be rewarded with the extra ones! :o)

July 28, 2009 at 10:05 PM

i want it because eliza/echo & amy/whiskey are gorgeous!

July 28, 2009 at 11:26 PM

Because I’m a Joss Whedon fan. And it’s a great show.

July 28, 2009 at 11:36 PM

I would like to own this DVD set because I haven’t watched an episode of the show because it was on at a bad time. I’d love to support Joss in his second season though!

July 29, 2009 at 12:05 AM

Why do I want to own Dollhouse S1? Easy!

1. I loved the show, and I didn’t get to see the last episode at SDCC like a lot of folks. ;-)
2. It would mean I have a set to loan out to hook others before S2. =)

July 29, 2009 at 12:05 AM

I want it so I can see Epitaph One legally.

July 29, 2009 at 12:08 AM

Entering because love the show! And, want to see the extra eps and mostly…cause this show rocks!

July 29, 2009 at 12:14 AM

I’m a longtime fan Joss Whedon’s genius, couldn’t make Comic Con and I’m DYING to see “Epitaph One”. And because I LOVE this website… shameless suck up (even though its true- Hello? Blowing the Hatch was such a great idea)

July 29, 2009 at 12:15 AM

I want it because it was the best thing about Fridays this spring.

July 29, 2009 at 12:27 AM

I missed a lot of episodes from the first season.I need the DVD set.

July 29, 2009 at 12:32 AM

Dollhouse is proof positive that for the first time in a long time, the fans can be heard before it’s too late. In a show that started on an idea from Eliza, that was built up into a concept with Joss, and immediately had a strong fan following, Dollhouse was one to watch. Even though it was placed onto a network that most fans had given up on, and on the a dreaded timeslot of Friday nights, it still managed to pull numbers. They weren’t the best of numbers, but the fans truly did make a difference. This show is the start of what could be the future of Television and how it’s ratings are looked at. We’re not just a single household watching these shows anymore, we’re people that watch it on websites, and download it from iTunes. We want to have it at our fingertips to watch it when we want, not when the network says we can.

I want to own Dollhouse, so that once more I can watch when I want to watch, and share it with people so that when Season two comes out, our numbers will prove to Fox that we count.

July 29, 2009 at 12:33 AM

Epitaph One, and because it’s a good show.

July 29, 2009 at 12:38 AM

I want to own season one of Dollhouse because I think it’s one of the best shows on television at the moment. Plus Amy Acker is pretty much the reason to watch anything these days (and, okay, maybe Tahmoh Penikett, too).

Plus, hey, who wouldn’t want free stuff? :D

July 29, 2009 at 12:39 AM

I want it because I do not have time to watch tv but when I’m chilling out I sure like to watch a good show!!

July 29, 2009 at 12:44 AM

If i get this on my bluray maybe It will make more sense so I can re-watch things legally.

July 29, 2009 at 12:47 AM

I need this because after buying BSG 4.5 and Prison Break the Final Break I couldn’t afford Dollhouse!

July 29, 2009 at 12:57 AM

Thanks for giving us this opportunity! Here’s why I’d like to own the set:

1) My favorite episodes – Man on the Street/Echoes/Briar Rose/Omega/(And maybe, Epitaph One. I haven’t seen it yet.)
2) The commentaries – I’d love to know how Joss first broke Episode 6.
3) Alan Tudyk and Soylent Green.

Thanks again.

July 29, 2009 at 1:05 AM

well considering today is my birthday i think i deserve it. either way thats what im spending my birthday money on, so if you could save me the money and give it to me, that would be nifty

July 29, 2009 at 1:07 AM

I don’t know how I wasn’t a big fan of Joss Whedon in my younger years. I just can’t get enough of his work!

July 29, 2009 at 1:14 AM

Joss Whedon/Dollhouse fanatic + poor college student = no money for a dvd that would complete my Whedon shrine ;)

July 29, 2009 at 1:24 AM

Well I already was able to obtain the Comic Con Special Edition, but I need the normal edition too just so that I don’t seem so pretentious when people are looking over my dvd collection. Also it just feels good to get something for free and feel extra special. Especially after spending $50 on the dvds and another $25 for someone to pick them up and insure they send them to me. Not to mention the only time I have won any kind of drawing was about 9 years ago at a Taste of Home show, and it was a ham loaf. That’s right a ham loaf, not a meat loaf, but a loaf made of ham. Ok by this point anyone reading this is hating me, but I figured I would have fun with this. I did spend days trying to arrange to get the dvds posting ads on Craigslist, e-mailing people on eBay selling SDCC passes where the only option was to pick it up from them and using Twitter to send out several Tweets to people attending SDCC looking for just one person to take interest/pity in me. After I found people who were interested I had to exchange several e-mails to figure out logistics and figure out who I trusted the most. I spent $75 dollars in order to get what would’ve cost only $31 on Amazon because I think this show is so amazing and I wanted the best that was available. So you may say that I don’t deserve to get free dvds, but I have worked so hard just to obtain the copy I have, convincing several friends and family to watch Dollhouse all because this show deserves recognition and didn’t deserve to get the ax much like it’s amazing Whedon cousin Firefly. If anything happens to it i’ll campaign until a movie gets made, but I would prefer to allow it the time to develop and end it’s arc where it began, because let’s face it there is not a lot of great programming on television these days to be had. This thus ends my diatribe. Congratulations to the winners whomever you may end up being because when it comes to matters of chance rarely does it end up working for me, unless of course it comes to delicious loafs of ham mmm…Thank you and goodnight!

July 29, 2009 at 1:25 AM

cause i love joss and everything he does, plus im a poor film student

July 29, 2009 at 1:30 AM

What a fun contest! I want the Dollhouse DVDs because I love Joss Whedon and Dollhouse. I’ve already managed to collect all of the Buffy/Angel/Firefly DVDs, now I just need Dollhouse to complete my collection. Thank you for the contest!

~Malinda

July 29, 2009 at 1:39 AM

I would love to win this DVD so that I could give it to my friend who is a complete Whedon junkie but cannot afford the DVD on her own. I already have a copy for myself but to have one to present to her would not only make me feel wonderful in being able to let her own this masterpiece of television she loved so much on the air, but also to be able to get that feeling that comes from making someone else so happy (like Echo when she helped the young girl in “Briar Rose”).

Whoever wins the DVDs, I hope that you enjoy all the wonderful extras included and the two unaired episodes of some of Joss’ finest work.

-Andrew

July 29, 2009 at 2:10 AM

Well, golly, I’m just a huge Whedonverse fan! I love Joss and all his work! Huge fan of Ms. Dushku and the new show, and I’d really love to see Felicia Day in Epitaph One! And Miracle Laurie is just so purty! (As is the rest of the cast! :)) Thanks for the opportunity! PS Im broke!

July 29, 2009 at 2:13 AM

I’d like the DVD because while I liked “Dollhouse,” I didn’t love it. But after seeing “Epitaph 1″ at Comic-Con, I love the show more than I thought was possible. It was a superb episode that I’d like to be able to binge watch to my heart’s content. Of course, I can’t afford it, so fingers crossed you pick me.

July 29, 2009 at 2:36 AM

I want Dollhouse because since I am as a devoted Joss Whedon fan, I want to have all the projects he worked on. Also, when the show first started, I was so dedicated to the show, and I want to show my pride by owning the box set itself.

July 29, 2009 at 3:05 AM

I love Eliza in all of her forms. I have LOVED her as Faith on BTVS as well as on Angel. I followed her as Tru Davies in Tru Calling and now I am falling for Echo in Dollhouse. As much as I worship Joss, Mutant Enemy and Eliza, I was afraid to commit to another of their projects on Fox. I always get burned when yet again Fox cancels another favorite show. My DVR cut out on a couple recordings and now I’m left hanging. When I learned that Fox decided not to air “Epitaph One” with Felicia Day, I flipped. Please ease the pain and award me the DVD. Crossing my fingers…

July 29, 2009 at 3:06 AM

I will absolutely just die without this dvd set. I have no money, and plan to watch it over and over and get others addicted just like I am!!!!

July 29, 2009 at 3:08 AM

What a great series!! Anything Joss does – I’m there. I’ve got a set coming in from PlanetDVD, but definitely have friends and family whom I could gift with an extra set.

July 29, 2009 at 4:20 AM

Well, considering that this is random, there isn’t much to say except that I LOVE DOLLHOUSE and I honestly hope I win the DVDs since I am poor graduate student struggling to get my Ph.D. in New Media and Technologies that center on identity and culture (much like DH!).

July 29, 2009 at 6:11 AM

I’m a huge fan of Dollhouse, but have been unemployed since 4/1/09. I live near Detroit, Michigan, and the economy here is probably the worst in the nation. It’s looking like I’ll have to leave my the state that has been my home for nearly 40 years just so I can find work again. Small things like getting a free copy of a show I love would make this really bad situation, just a little bit better.

July 29, 2009 at 6:26 AM

Huge dollhouse fan.

July 29, 2009 at 7:44 AM

Can Joss Whedon do any wrong? From Buffy to Angel to Firefly to the comic book series, this man has yet to make a mistake. Dollhouse started slow and then build up to a great reward to those who watched it through. As a broke college student I awaited anxiously for the next episode to be put on Hulu.

July 29, 2009 at 8:41 AM

Two words…Eliza Dushku.

July 29, 2009 at 9:01 AM

I love this show, Joss Whedon, and Eliza Dushku! I’d love this box set because I really want to see the unaired episodes, but I really can’t waste the money at this time!

July 29, 2009 at 9:16 AM

Since it got renewed I would like to check out the first season.

July 29, 2009 at 9:22 AM

I need something to replace the emptiness inside after my recent gall bladder surgery. I’m not literally going to replce my gall bladder with the DVDs–I’m going to watch them while I throw a gall bladder effigy into the garbage disposal. Hope I get points for using “gall bladder” as many times as an informational brochure about gall bladders.

July 29, 2009 at 9:27 AM

B/c of a crazy busy year, my fiance and I weren’t able to catch Dollhouse when it aired, so we decided to wait for the DVD to come out. We LOVE everything that Joss Whedon touches, and have been hearing AMAZING things about this show. Plus…. Eliza Dushku!!!

July 29, 2009 at 9:45 AM

Why do I deserve a free copy of Dollhouse? Because of my rampant awesomeness. On the other hand (as the Rampant Awesomeness scale has yet to be calibrated for civilian use), I should receive a copy of the first season because, A: I have been watching Joss Whedon shows since Buffy, having seen every episode of every show made by Joss (save for the last season of Buffy, thats not required), however, being a person who lives just to his means, I have also been wholly unable to purchase any said shows produced by Joss. I would greatly love to begin my at-home collection with Dollhouse. I hope that serves to convince you, otherwise just stick with the second sentence, the one about rampant awesomeness.

July 29, 2009 at 10:12 AM

Joss Whedon FTW!

July 29, 2009 at 10:39 AM

Didn’t get to watch Dollhouse on the air (there was already a conflicting season pass on our Tivo) but did catch it every week on Hulu. Would *LOVE* to hear the commentaries…

July 29, 2009 at 10:49 AM

I didn’t get to see any of the first season of Dollhouse while it was on TV, mostly because I didn’t know that it existed until later, but I absolutely love pretty much everything Joss has ever created. I started with Firefly and was instantly in love, and I only recently discovered Buffy and Angel, but now I own all the seasons and have watched every episode, and I just finished watching all the seasons of Buffy for the second time. Of course, now that I’ve bought 12 seasons of Buffy and Angel, I’m a little too poor to buy Dollhouse, which makes me really really sad.

July 29, 2009 at 11:06 AM

Because I need to share this great show with my friends and family.

July 29, 2009 at 11:09 AM

I watched Dollhouse when it aired and greatly enjoyed it. I would love to see the unaired pilot and am anxious to see the Epitaph One episode.

July 29, 2009 at 11:44 AM

I watched all the episodes as they aired, either on my Tivo or on Hulu, but would love to hear the commentary and be able to share Dollhouse with friends who haven’t seen it already. I am really looking forward to seeing Epitaph One!

July 29, 2009 at 1:24 PM

Joss Whedon commentaries, unaired pilot, Epitaph One, and Alan Tudyk playing multiple personalities like no one else could. What’s not to love?

July 29, 2009 at 1:31 PM

omg! i love Dollhouse. i never got to see a joss whedon show when it was actually on the air (buffy, angel, firefly) and i’m a whedon-addict now. can i just say, this show is amazing, and i cannot wait to see what happens in the new season! i honestly wish i could afford to buy the season 1 dvds, but my family doesn’t have the money to get it, and i’m off to college, and i’ll need something to watch in my downtime. WHY NOT HAVE DOLLHOUSE TO WATCH! I REALLY WANT IT!!

July 29, 2009 at 2:40 PM

It’s simply a good show. Like much of Joss’s work, you can’t take things at face value. It’s the type of show that makes you think.

So in other words, I love it!

July 29, 2009 at 2:56 PM

I need to see the unaired episode.

July 29, 2009 at 3:33 PM

I would like to see the unaired episodes but am way to cheap and/or lazy to purchase the DVD myself.

July 29, 2009 at 5:25 PM

Because I generally love Whedon’s series so I’d probably love this!

July 29, 2009 at 5:44 PM

ahh, because i am a joss whedon completist and, for lack of a better descriptor, i gotta have ‘em all, pokemon-style.

July 29, 2009 at 7:20 PM

Because Joss Whedon is the god of my universe, but this mendicant can’t afford the DVD — but desperately needs to see that final episode (and all the other ones, repeatedly) to find grace.

July 29, 2009 at 7:39 PM

I was faithful and watched the entire season, but would like to get access to Epitaph One in a more… acceptable manner. :)

July 30, 2009 at 12:42 AM

This show has amazing charactrers and mysteries. They are constantly evolving. It is one of the few original ideas on television today. I couldn’t get enough of this show (or Eliza) by the end of the first season. It’s really a unique show.

July 30, 2009 at 10:46 AM

I have adored Joss for years! This show is amazing, and grew with every episode. Eliza seems born for this complex role. I heard about Epitaph One as soon as Fox decided not to air it, and I was outraged! I must see that episode! (and rewatch the entire season again and again!)

July 30, 2009 at 3:36 PM

I’m a huge Joss Wedon fan. I was heartbroken when Firefly was cancelled & am pumped that Dollhouse is coming back for season 2. I saw every episode that aired, so I need this set to see the unaired episode Epitaph One.

July 30, 2009 at 7:11 PM

To watch Epitaph 1 of course. Besides its Whedon without teenagers (i.e., not Buffy) what’s not to like?

July 30, 2009 at 10:06 PM

Love anything that Joss does. Including Dollhouse!

July 31, 2009 at 1:47 PM

My husband’s out of the job so I can’t buy it on my own and am desperate to see Epitaph One!

July 31, 2009 at 3:35 PM

This looks like a show I would enjoy watching but haven’t had a chance to watch on tv

July 31, 2009 at 5:01 PM

So I can watch the unaired episodes

July 31, 2009 at 8:55 PM

I would love to win this!

August 1, 2009 at 10:44 AM

I haven’t had a chance to see this who yet but have heard lots of goof things about it

August 1, 2009 at 5:07 PM

I’d love a free dvd set!

August 1, 2009 at 11:29 PM

I ♥ Dollhouse! Can’t wait for the second season to start.

September 24, 2009 at 1:07 AM

I would love to own this season, this is the only set that I don’t own that Joss Whedon has done.
