Bones – A glimpse of things to come

Bones and Booth almost kiss

It wasn’t that long ago that I created a long, exhaustive list of why Seeley Booth and Temperence Brennan can’t get together (Spoiler Alert: It was one item long). Simply put, their chemistry wouldn’t change if they were in a more intimate relationship. Unfortunately, the powers that be continue to put off the inevitable.

One could actually argue that their relationship has already transcended to that level (minus the sex), but that neither of them have realized it yet. The emotional connection that these two share is already more mature that most television couples.

This week, another obstacle was thrown in the way. Bones went out with one of Booth’s bosses, Andrew Hacker (Diedrich Bader). Thankfully, I doubt we’ll see him again, not like the multi-episode arc that was the Bones/Scully relationship (I hated Scully … so much so, that it took me a while to warm up to Eddie McClintock on Warehouse 13). This week’s story actually drove them closer together

“What goes on between us is ours.” When Booth admonished Bones for letting personal info about him slip to Hacker, I think she realized how much they do mean to each other, and showed that by inviting him to the event. Too bad they were interrupted, just as things were about to get interesting. I think, though, that we were just thrown a … well … bone because of the baseball playoff related hiatus. Despite that, anything to see those two almost kiss is worth a couple weeks off.

Other stuff:

  • I was surprised to see Daisy come back, but I like her (and may be the only one), so there’s that
  • Bones is often gross … But the Hannibal homage may have been as big of a gross out moment
  • Funny that the Jeffersonian team that Intern Clark thinks to talk too much about their personal lives
  • Sweets and Daisy really do make a cute couple
  • Though, I can do with out … “Lancelot’s” Grrrrr
  • When are Angela and Hodgins getting back together

Before the start of the season there was talk of Brennan having a relationship that caused problems with Booth. Was this supposed to be it? If so it was very anti climactic.

I like Daisy too, greatly due to residual goodwill from Undeclared. They’ve definitely toned down her annoying qualities in this episode, so I can see her continuing on the show.

The only intern I thought was grating was Vaziri with the fake accent. He’s much improved as well with the character tweaking.
