The LeVar Burton code on Community

If you peruse this site often, you might know of our love for a little NBC show named Community . It’s incredibly funny, smartly written and brings something new to the table every single week. I sincerely hope that we get at least another season of this great show. Since I started writing for CliqueClack, I’ve put Community into my regular weekly lineup, and every episode seems to top the one before it. This includes last week’s offering, with a visit from Reading Rainbow and The Next Generation star LeVar Burton as … LeVar Burton. If you haven’t seen the episode yet, do yourself a favor and go watch it.

However, I noticed an interesting string of connections. Behold:

• Allison Brie is on both Community and Mad Men .
• A couple times in the last few years, some of the Mad Men cast have made appearances on The Soup.
• Each time, the Mad Men cast come on with LeVar Burton.

• The Soup is hosted by Joel McHale.
• Joel McHale is on Community.
• Who guest starred on Community this past week? LeVar Burton.

Sure, this could just be coincidence, but even when the Mad Men guys first came on The Soup, I wondered just why they brought along LeVar (besides their love of Reading Rainbow, of course). I feel like there’s a missing link in the LeVar Burton connection. Maybe there’s some sinister conspiracy going on to force 20-somethings to engage in reading again!

On the other hand, maybe this is one of those things we shouldn’t question. Heck, let’s just enjoy the funny.
