Sacha Baron Cohen vs. Ryan Seacrest

Did Sacha Baron Cohen really upend ashes over Ryan Seacrest? Yes. Did it really look that bad? No.

I’ll be honest. Like Michael, I didn’t really care whether or not Sacha Baron Cohen walked the red carpet in character or not. When I heard that he dropped ashes on Ryan Seacrest, I was of two thoughts: “Awesome!” and “Dude, that’s totally disrespectful.” However, when I heard people attempted to click on any of the links showing the actual act, a lovely little message stating that Comcast repealed it appeared. And, I kept thinking, “does Comcast own the Academy Awards? Why can’t people show these clips? Was it really that bad?” Seriously, you can’t undo something by hiding it.

So, I went back to the videotape (yes, I’m that old) and decided to watch. And, I realized it wasn’t that bad. #1. It looked accidental. #2.Even if it were the “deliberate accidental” tipping of ashes, it wasn’t the uploading an entire can on top of Seacrest’s carefully manicured hair as I thought.  I think the bigger deal is the hiding of the videos after the fact, which now turn Cohen’s prank (accidental or deliberate) into mythic proportions.

Below find the pictures. Let me know if you think it proved as bad as you heard.

Note: E! has made the video available on their YouTube channel. We present it here for your viewing pleasure. Watch it while you can because E!/Comcast can pull it at any minute.
