Thank you, makers of weird food!

owen and ice cream bar

Sometimes having food allergies and sensitivities can be a chore, especially when there just isn’t time to make a treat like homemade chocolate coconut milk ice cream or brownies with vegetables in them. We don’t generally buy many pre-made or processed foods, but sometimes they can be a life-saver. Or at least an empty-stomach saver.

I’d like to shout-out to Turtle Mountain, for really everything, but specifically today for their Coconut Almond Minis, which are coconut milk ice cream (sweetened with agave) bars covered with agave-sweetened chocolate and almonds. The four-year-old professes they are now his favorite dessert and wants to buy a new package of them everyday. At $4.99 for four little bars, that isn’t going to happen, but when I can give my child a treat that I can feel good about that won’t give him hives or anaphylactic shock, then it’s time to celebrate.

The little dude had never had an ice cream bar before, and that totally trumps me never giving him an almond butter and jelly sandwich until he was four simply because I didn’t think of it (I hate the combination of nut butters and jelly… but give me a scrambled egg and almond butter sandwich? Heaven.) I don’t care how healthy you are, you know you love an ice cream bar.

And seriously, these taste about 1000% better than the ones filled with junk.

So yay Turtle Mountain, and thanks again!
