CliqueClack Presidential Election – It’s Voting Time!

Sci Fi

Sci Fi

If you’ve been keeping up, you know that here at CliqueClack, we’ve been nominating some of our favorite TV characters for president. With that silly actual election a week away, we figured it was time to start the voting for CliqueClack president. Be sure to vote. You have a civic duty here. Plus, there are no pesky age minimums or citizenship requirements to vote in this election.

The poll will be open for one week, until election day on November 4th. Let’s quickly review all of the nominees (and you can click on their names for more details)….

  • John Sheridan (Babylon 5): Like many of our nominees, Sheridan has previous presidential experience, but it is not all that he brings to the ticket. He’s charismatic, handsome, and brings a loving and politically experienced first lady to the ticket with him. He is, however, slightly reckless and has a pesky habit of dying….
  • Jed Bartlet (The West Wing): He’s already been president, but we want four more years! Jed brings experience and a great resume – a PhD in economics, strong morals, and the ability to speak four languages! He does, however, have some serious health issues, as he suffers from Multiple Sclerosis.
  • Rupert Giles (Buffy: The Vampire Slayer): So what if he’s British! Giles has all the right stuff to be president. He’s always willing to do the research to learn about the best way to tackle a situation and he’s a proven leader, having saved the world from Armageddon several times. Unfortunately he’s got some demons in his past… literally.
  • The Head of Richard Nixon (Futurama): His first presidency may not have met the best of endings, but we’re willing to give old slippery Dick a second chance. After all, how much trouble can he get into if he’s just a head in a jar? Not only does he have experience, but he’s from the future. He knows what is going to happen, so he can help lead us in the right direction.
  • Optimus Prime (Transformers):He may be a robot, but Optimus Prime is also a great leader. He’s led the Autobots in many victories, displaying leadership and military expertise. He also has a great energy policy with advanced Energon technology. He is, however, really really old and might rust through if he’s caught in a bad rainstorm.
  • Laura Roslin (Battlestar Galactica): Roslin would make a great president. She’s proven an effective leader under the most dire of circumstances, showing that she is fiercely protective of her people. However, she does bring some health problems and religious baggage with her to the office.
Now’s the time to vote! And remember, come November 4th, you should go and vote in that other election too!

Oh come on! Where is David Palmer?

This was a tough one. As a devoted Buffy fan I would normally vote for Giles but he is so not qualified.

If I thought that it would better my chances of getting Scarecrow and Mrs. King released on DVD, I would vote for John Sheridan but I think not.

Optimus Prime is great but I really enjoyed the post Transformers the Movie episodes (Season 3) better (although please don’t take that to mean I think Rodimus was better than Optimus).

No, Laura Roslin is the only logical choice.

It’s sacrilegious if Jed Bartlet’s doesn’t win this election. Seriously the man deserves to be on the Mount Rushmore of fictional presidents.

If I recall correctly Jed’s a nice Notre Dame boy, but I still have to place my vote for Laura Roslin.
