If you are a fan of ratings, the kick off to the fall season will be a very welcome thing. At this point, there just isn’t anything all that interesting happening on the networks. When September 20th hits though … and we have 13 shows premiering … then we’ll really have something to talk about. For now, a quick rundown of the week that was.
NBC - Starting at the back of the week, Persons Unknown signed off with another solid night, garnering nearly 3 million viewers for the finale. Unfortunately, that was most likely fueled by football pre-emptions and will drop a good bit in finals. Much like the previous week’s episode did, falling to just 1.34m/1.3.
Earlier in the week, Sunday Night Football (10.82m/3.6) was again the number one show in both measures. And Minute To Win It (5.35m/1.6 – 6.18m/1.9 – 6.44m/1.9) had three decent outings in support of Miss Universe (6.06m/1.9), and America’s Got Talent (10.8m/3.1 – 10.52m/2.7).
ABC – The Gates (2.88m/.9) kicked off the week, followed by Bachelor Pad (5.76m/2) and Dating In The Dark (3.72m/1.4) on Monday. The bright spot in the numbers came Tuesday, with Wipeout (7.98m/2.7). That didn’t do much for Shaq Vs (3.84m/1.7). Things wrapped up with Rookie Blue (5.78m/1.6) on Thursday.
CBS - The usual run of Big Brother (7.73m/2.6 – 7.99m/2.8 – 7.87m/2.7) was joined by a Friday night NFL pre-season game (5.95m/1.7).
FOX - A very slow week consisted of Lie To Me (5.1m/1.8) and Master Chef (5.09m/2.2).
CW - Plain Jane (1.13m/.4)
CABLE – The sinking ratings of Mad Men (2.19m/.7) have finally rebounded. This week saw small gains, which suggests that the show may have found its level again. Elsewhere, while getting a third more viewers and demo than Mad Men, and none of the buzz or publicity, The Glades (3.32m/1) is putting together a solid first season. You should read what Carissa has to say about it and give it a look. Other cable numbers:
