TV SHOWS COLUMNS FEATURES CHATS QUESTIONS

Project Runway – Drama, drama, drama

We are down to the final six, and the "cheating" mentioned in the promos for the last few weeks has finally been revealed.

- Season 8, Episode 11 - "A Look in the Line"

The challenge was to create a look that would complement Heidi’s ready-to-wear sportswear line. While that sounds simple enough, it was quite the challenge for the designers. I don’t think any other season has had as many additional components added to the initial challenge has this season has had. It has almost become a question: what is coming next?

Up next, the designers were asked to create two additional looks for Heidi’s line. With that, came drama … six ousted designers came back to assist. That is where the real drama, if you can call it that, came in. So, Ivy claimed that Michael cheated by using tape on the Jackie Kennedy challenge. Really? That is the big “cheat” that has been promoted for weeks? Tape? And, an accusation from Ivy of all people? You have got to be kidding me! Ultimately, Ivy just came across as a whiner and a poor loser. Her vendetta against Michael really got out of control and I think her actions will hurt her get jobs in the future. Ultimately, the accusation was just dismissed by Tim Gunn and the producers as nothing.

Top: Mondo, Andy, and April

Bottom: Gretchen, Michael, and Christopher

During the initial runway show, I thought Mondo and Andy would be in the top, but I wasn’t sure about the third. I thought it was between April and Michael. I didn’t really love Michael’s color choices, but liked the designs. And, April, I wasn’t sure how her looks fit into sportswear. I thought Gretchen and Christopher would be in the bottom. In the end, I was happy with Andy winning (Mondo couldn’t win again, right?) and with Christopher being out. It was time for Christopher to go.

Gretchen, Gretchen, Gretchen … even after being called out for not accepting criticism, she still had attitude. If it is a close call between Gretchen and another designer, I think her attitude will be her downfall.

Last week, I had a poll asking who you wanted to see at fashion week. 100% voted for Mondo, 61% for April and 57% for Michael. Are those still the top three? Vote again!

I can not stand Heidi.

She has no sense of color or fashion at all, her taste is horrid! I was so happy when Mondo yelled at her, she deserved it. She comes off as a know it all bitch that knows nothing! Go to Amazon and look at your “clothing”! It’s $170 for a piece of grey fabric, it’s all grey, no colors at all, all her pieces look just the same.

She is truly a mess, and how she has any right to make fun of any designers on the shows look is just amazing. “Look pumpkin pants!” Sure it was ugly but it had one thing Heidi’s line will never have… color!

And just last week I was making fun of her polka dotted dress she was wearing.

No sense of fashion at all!!!!

Mondo is going to the final for sure, even with his attitude, and I think Andy will make it, he’s been doing really well. Gretchen is falling fast, they liked her in the beginning, and she can build the dresses well, but is it enough? I think April will be taking her space.

I think it will be two guys, Mondo, Andy, and Grentch / April. The judges do like Micheal… for whatever reasons, but I think he will be gone next week.

Are we sure the final only has 3 spots? It seems like every other year they make a fourth spot, and last year they had to fight over spots.

This week was the first time Mondo had any attitude but it sure gave him a lesson in pleasing a client. He certainly doesn’t have Gretchen’s attitude! It doesn’t seem like they will have a final five with two battling for a fourth spot like they have in the past. With only two episodes left, doesn’t seem like enough time for that.

It’s funny that they dismissed the cheating allegations so quickly because if you saw the preview for this week at the end of last week’s show, at the very end they included a clip of Tim Gunn saying, “You will not be returning to the show.” I sat there all night waiting for that to happen, to see if Michael C really did cheat (because I remember another clip that had him almost gleefully talking about getting away with something), then I thought Ivy was being dismissed for even making the accusation, and in the end nothing happened! It’s like the time when Ivy fainted, they used that footage in the previews and then it was the very last 10 seconds of the episode. Survivor was also guilty this week of making a big deal out of “Hurricane NaOnka” and there was barely a stiff gust. At least they didn’t incorporate a clip that had nothing to do with the show. I can’t believe they can get away with stuff like that!

As for the fashions, I can never pick out what the judges will like, but I did call Andy’s win this week. It could have been him or Mondo but Andy’s was a little more commercial. Those two will definitely be in the final three, and April should also be there. Gretchen is just too bossy and full of herself and she is quick to criticize others but can’t take any back. And the preview makes it look like she’s going to quit, which I’m sure she won’t but I don’t think she deserves a final three spot. I don’t think Michael C will make it either.
