Cold Open: Ask Gloria Allred — A couple of bad Photoshops in there, but I’ll let those pass. Yeah, Allred is an attention whore, but I only really remember her from the Tiger Woods stuff that went on all that long ago. Remind me: why is she still relevant today?
Monologue: Jane Lynch — What, you’re surprised I’d transcribe the lyrics for Sue’s Glee theme song? Well, surprise! Here they are:
Glee!
Glee is a show about Sue Sylvester
Sue Sylvester is the star of Glee
Now, yes, there are a few other characters
But Sue is the one you wanna see
When Sue comes down the hallway
Slushie cup at her side
The faint of heart better break way and part
And the weak should run and hide
Yes the weak should run and hide
Yes the weak should run and hide!
Where did Sue Sylvester come from? No one knows. Legend has it she was birthed from between two storm clouds. Lightning hit the ground, and from the billowing smoke the female figure, covered in dirt and wearing a red sweatsuit. And the villagers gathered and asked, “God?” And the creature lifted her head and said, “No. I’m Sue Sylvester.”
Glee is a show about Sue Sylvester
Sue Sylvester is the star of Glee
Yes, there are some other characters
But Sue Sylvester is played by me
I’m Sue Sylvester
I’m Sue Sylvester
I’m Sye Sylvester
I’m Sue Sylvester
Glee!
Glee!
Glee Glee Glee Glee Glee Me Me Me Me
I’m Sue Sylvester
Damn It, My Mom is on Facebook Filter –Hot damn, this was pretty damn funny. The filtering of photos gave me a good laugh.
Glee and Gilly — Holy crap! Finally, a suitable parody! And then Gilly ruined it for all of us. Still, it was pretty decent. Best quote: “OK let’s just walk through our semi-complicated dance moves that you always learn in once second.”
The New Boyfriend Talk Show — A clever idea that worked. Seeing the “boyfriend’s” reaction to being the “130th-or-so” guest and everything that went along with it was classic. Armisen as Gene Simmons was awesome, but Verne Troyer is probably pretty pissed off at how he was portrayed, eh?
Christine O’Donnell: Not a Witch — Short and to the point. Pretty funny, but wonder how much longer we’re going to get this witch joke going on. I imagine if she gets voted in, we’ll see a hell of a lot more of it.
Secret Word –Kinda a throw away skit but Lynch’s portions were pretty funny, especially the Clearasil joke.
The Therapist — Anyone else wondering if Jane Lynch actually stripped down to nothing for that final shot?
Point Of No Returns — I knew they’d be using Jay Pharoah’s impersonations from his stand-up routine, and his Denzel Washington was pretty spot-on. I turned away at one point to type something up here, and the voice was uncanny.
Musical Guest: Bruno Mars — Quote the change from last week’s guest, Kanye West. That’s about all I can muster to say about this group, other than this is the first time I’ve ever heard of them before. Should I know of them more?
Weekend Update — Samberg’s Zuckerberg impression was pretty good. One of the better quotes: “This week the Peanuts comic strip marked its 60th anniversary. The strip follows the adventures of a group of neurotic children whose parents are all dead, and are being educated by an unseen trombone player.”
The Suze Orman Show — “And you look like a vagiliion dollars!”
object classid=”clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000″ width=”384″ height=”283″ align=”middle”>
Sunday Night Football Theme — Yeah, those theme songs are a little ridiculous, and this was a fitting way to poke fun at it. “What?! The game’s started?!”
Tax Masters — Damn that was creepy, but it looked like it was cut short, didn’t it? A lot more could have been done with that sketch, so I’m not sure what happened there — I guess they just ran out of time. That last “close-up” shot was weird. Make it more absurd, guys!
Bruno Mars is a singer and producer/songwriter whose CD, Doo-Wops & Hooligans, dropped on Tues, the 5th. He sang the hook on B.O.B.’s “Nothing on You” and Travie McCoy’s “Billionaire”. He was also a writer on FloRida’s “Right Round”, among other things.
I love the Secret Word sketch. I know it’s the same every time, but I just enjoy seeing what Kristen Wiig will do with it. Trina beat me to the Bruno Mars bio. He’s been around behind the scenes for a while (check out the EW article on him in last week’s issue). Gloria Allred is still relevant because she keeps making herself relevant…any chance she gets. Overall, a pretty decent show.
