Life gets expectedly more complicated on LUX

You'd think a trip back to nature would help simplify matters for the couples on the show. Maybe for Baze/Emma, but for both Lux/Eric and Cate/Ryan, things just got more complicated.

Previously, on Life Unexpected (or more specifically my posts about Life Unexpected), I called everyone stupid. Except I really didn’t call anyone stupid, but everyone thought I did. So, where do we go from here, fair readers? Well, if you’re back this week, it’s A) Because you like the show, and thus your stupidity is not in question, or B) You’re here looking for a fight, and well, that would just be stupid … erm … silly. Can we just move on now? Kaythanks.

Much has been made online these past couple of weeks about how LUX, Gossip Girl, and Pretty Little Liars have been exploring this student teacher dating story (What does it say about me that I write about two out of three of these shows, and my fellow Clackers still think I secretly watch the third). It’s funny how similar the stories are (Serena being in college being the only real outlier), and it is funny how tired I am of two of them (And would be of the third, but really, guys, I’m sorry, I don’t watch Pretty Little Liars). My thoughts on the Eric/Lux relationship are pretty well clear, and there’s no point rehashing. Hopefully, getting caught will be the beginning of the end of the beginning.

Tash’s argument against the relationship came from a much different, much more real place. The internets can sit in judgment of the wrongness of the relationship (don’t misunderstand, I think it is wrong, but I also don’t think it was the worst thing to happen to morals in this country since, well, the last time someone ran with this story), but to Lux’s best friend, it is about something different. Tash just wants to be normal, and wants her friend to live that normal life with her. Lux doesn’t realize, but she wants the same thing, and just has this high school crush standing in the way.

A quick aside … Considering I just watched the series finale of Buffy, I’ve been craving to see Emma Caulfield on a school bus (you know, instead of dying). Somehow, watching her walk onto the field trip bus wasn’t exactly what I had in mind. Nor, frankly what she did on the bus later was what I was thinking.

Notes & Quotes

  • “Why do I feel like you’re already on his side?” – Cate
“That’s an interesting question … Why do you?” – Therapist
  • I’m no basketball expert, but I think layup drills normally include some running.
  • “Hey. So, are you stoked for your camping trip? Get it … stoked, like you’d stoke a fire?” – Baze
“Ah. How long have you been waiting to say that one?” – Lux
“About an hour. So, are you fired up?” – Baze
  • At least Cate and Ryan found a private place to … erm … talk, but did Baze and Emma just miss all of those windows?
  • “Well, I’m older than [Baze].” – Emma
“By what, a few years?” – Lux
“Yeah, but mentally its more like twenty.” – Emma

i just want to punch Lux & i hope Tasha does. she’s so damn annoying. I’m with you on the Baze & Emma in the bus thing: all those windows!

what’s wrong with Pretty Little Liars? its a nice show. if you’re worried about it being about hot high school girls, just think of it like i do: they’re really 25, 21, 21, 31, & 23. also, i really love Holly Marie Combs since Charmed. another fun fact i just learned yesterday: the teen daughter on Modern Family is actually 30!
