Wonder Woman continues to be a wonder to us

If you’re ever fortunate enough to stroll down the meticulous Italian-waxed hallways of the CliqueClack offices, you could find yourself suddenly stopped in your tracks, head cocked, listening. You might be able to make out an interesting, repetitive noise from somewhere in the distance, perhaps around a corner, mayhap behind a door.

It’s a muffled, somewhat soft sound. You wouldn’t necessarily know it offhand. If you tried to guess you probably wouldn’t figure out what it was. But I can tell you this: Each and every one of our writers who wanders the hallowed halls of CliqueClack knows the sound.

It’s the unmistakably familiar report of a dead horse being beaten over and over and over again. (Side Note: We don’t actually beat horses at CliqueClack, of course. I’m speaking figuratively.)

So, what’s on the hit parade that we’re mouthing off about this first week in October? Well, one of our most beloved roundtable discussions, concerning our very own Warrior Princess of the Amazons (and seeming unofficial mascot), Wonder Woman.

Again.

You see … we don’t just (metaphorically) beat dead horses around here — we (pretend to) bottle up the glue and (amuse ourselves by thinking we can) sell it to the highest bidder.

The discussion surrounding Diana Prince has resulted in some of our liveliest and most heated debates … and there doesn’t seem to be any slowing of the subject in the foreseeable future. We’ve grown rather fond of (inadvertently) making her a regular feature on the site.

You may be asking yourself what’s gotten our knickers in a stew this time, right? Well, there have been a few cartoons making the rounds of late. The most recent of which you can see in this piece, Why Cleavage Is Bad For Crime Fighting. (Additionally, some of our writers counter Wonder Woman and other female superheroes’ costumes with this little gem, What if Male Superheroes Had Costumes Like Women?)

As a matter of fact, I don’t know if it’s even considered a “stew” we’re embroiled in about these latest illustrations. At least not according to our own esteemed Bob Degon:

“When most groups of people get together and have long, passionate, drawn out arguments,
it’s typically about politics, religion, real controversial issues.
Us? Superhero costumes. Good times.”

You see, while we might bark and bite and kick and scream about Wonder Woman, and whether or not her cleavage will cease to be peek-a-boo and, instead, become exposed to the masses in the normal course of her exploits, we still know how to have a good time sniping at each other over the subject.

To quote another of our equally esteemed CliqueClack writers, Ivey West:

“Wonder Woman has officially set a record for the show
most talked about on the (CliqueClack) email list that will never see the light of day.”

We all love it. We really do.

Yes … good times, indeed.
