I’m not the best cook. I freely admit it. But I think that even I could have mastered the art of searing a scallop had I spent a day doing it in Hell’s Kitchen. I mean, geez. You’d think that after the teams had to pick through a mountain of ice, shell, shuck and cook them perfectly six times during the challenge that something would have stuck in their brains.
It’s no wonder that in my habitual good night phone call from my Gordon tonight, all I could make out were the words “raw,” “stupid,” “f#%k,” and “scallops.” Don’t worry. I soothed him by singing him “Someone’s in the Kitchen with Dinah” until he fell asleep. The poor thing.
From watching the show? I could piece together the rest. And I think Gordon was absolutely spot on in getting rid of Chris. The guy was as dumb as a box of hair. First, he could not for the life of him do the math on how to prepare twenty scallops at once, and then he just became more and more confuzzled as dinner service wore on.
At least he fessed up to that to Chef Ramsay and his teammates. Which was rather admirable I suppose. I think if Chris had wanted to stay, though? He could have made a stronger case for himself. I felt he was a tad relieved to be leaving the tense atmosphere and pressure of Hell’s Kitchen. It ain’t for everybody, after all. I just wondered what Chris was thinking he was getting himself into. Had he missed the last nine seasons? Hmm.
In other news, Barbie is causing trouble over on the women’s team. They strategized in putting Roshni up against her for elimination, and no doubt that would have happened had Gordon cut two people this week instead of one. But no such luck this time. They’re stuck with her and her haplessness (funny Barbie unwound so completely during dinner service when she did very well in the challenge) for at least another week. And from the looks of it?
Barbie is going to push Robyn and Tiffany over the edge. In fact, the tease for next week shows Tiffany totally losing it on Barbie while only wearing a bra. Again I say … hmm. (Side note to Tiffany: This attitude will not win you Hell’s Kitchen. Gordon is not going to hire a freak.)
It was a fun two evening dose of My Gordon to begin this season.
It’s almost as if he never left.
Barbie is Evil so she will stick around for the ratings!
And the Squirrel Pie on MasterChef was awesome :-)
Great review Ms. Shrodes. Where do they get these guys…I mean take Chris for example, he can cook yeah, but he also seems clueless when it “boils” down to having common sense. He must love getting yelled at. Anyways, keep up the great work.
