Hell’s Kitchen – Would you eat lamb testicles?

I gagged. I laughed. And I wouldn't have made a bet on who left Hell's Kitchen this time. Were you surprised?

- Season 10, Episode 4 - "15 Chefs Compete"

I chose this photo of My Gordon because I think it shows you that he didn’t really want to cut off all those poor lamb’s testicles. See the look in his eye? A bit of remorse there. He was simply trying to teach the women’s team on Hell’s Kitchen a little lesson. I’m not quite sure what that lesson was, except maybe not to lose a challenge or you may face a nauseating punishment, but whatever. It worked. At least on everyone aside from Kimmie, who by the look of her could eat a bulldozer bolt by bolt if so inspired.

We saw the back of Don’s front schlep out of Hell’s Kitchen tonight. I sortof understand why. But again (and so early in the season) I’m a tad confuzzled by the choice. Sure, Don was blank faced idiot who screwed up some steaks during dinner service. He doesn’t seem to have any genuine exuberance for the tasks at hand.

But I could have bet the shirt off my back that it was Brian who was going. (That would have left me in my new purple bra, which may or may not have enticed my Gordon into whisking me away on a jaunty sail upon the Irish Sea. A bet worth losing …)

Hmmm? Oh yes. I’m still here. Anyway!

I am now convinced more than ever, that it’s the editing on this show that messes with my head. Brian ruined pounds of fish by over and under cooking. He even called Chef Ramsay “Baby.” As in “It’s coming right now, baby!” Which was the final bone to catch in Gordon’s throat, and got him dismissed from the kitchen loudly and quickly.

Danielle and Roshni (again) turned in abysmal performances. For golly’s sake, the show is only four episodes in and Roshni has been up for elimination three of those times! Tell me what Don did comparatively to deserve being sent home before her. The answer? Must be on the cutting room floor, because I simply didn’t see how Don was more horrid than any of these three.

Other Ponderous Ponderings:

– I hate the challenges that involve live animals. Chasing those lambs around the barnyard to get the collars off their necks wasn’t necessary. Followed by the cooking of various lamb parts and the whole “lamb balls”  fiasco complete with choking and barfing? Went beyond unnecessary to just plain gross.

– My Gordon’s comment that dinner service to him felt as if he was “getting a root canal and passing a kidney stone at the same fucking time!” was completely priceless.

– Royce is getting better, but he still personally chafes me. Maybe it’s his bragging. Or the fact that he has a weak chin ala Frank Burns in M*A*S*H. I just don’t know.

– And sous chef Scott (who usually doesn’t make me laugh at all) did cause me to snarfle a bit at his description of Don being a “Wellington Savant.” Yes, it was kinda mean. But it was funny.

On to next week!

Gordon is not unlike Donald Trump (Celebrity Apprentice)in his firing decision. He does not have to be logical just whatever seems appropriate at the moment.

That said he also wants entertainment so leaving troublemakers and some cooks with questionable cooking skills will result in interesting things happen.

As for livestock, kind of stupid really. At least they did not have to shovel their waste as punishment for losing. Then again eating lamb testicals is not that good either. That was pretty gross and borders on humiliation.
