Grimm – Suddenly, Hank flies right

One of the biggest things I’ve been trying to work out with Grimm? What, exactly, is going to become of Hank.

The dude’s been tortured nine ways to Sunday. His encounter with Monroe in the forest didn’t do him any good. The guy he shot who turned from Wesen to human right before his very eyes didn’t help matters. Adalind’s potion about killed him and left a “lasting” impression. And, as of last episode, he’s even become wary of his partner. This episode? Poor Hank’s talking to a shrink trying to make sense of it all and freaks out. His issues abound.

But! Lo and behold, who’d’ve thunk all it would take would be for Hank to deck a Coyotl square in the schnozz and knock it on its ass in order for him to stand up and fly right?

Suddenly all’s well with the world! Hank’s right as rain! He’s even come to grips with his craziness! It was as simple as washing that Wesen right out of his hair. I like the direction Hank is taking in the series … through no choice of his own. I wasn’t expecting the events of “Full Moon Rising” to take the turn they did in his “recovery.” Not only did I think it was refreshing, it was just the right time to get put focus back on him … and not via any of that wimpified bromance monkey business.

Speaking of matters of the heart (I’m just a master of transition … aren’t I?), I’m still at an impasse when it comes to Juliette. It may have been a better thing for her to have remained in a coma and let that situation simmer. Ever since her rejection of Nick’s proposal and their inexplicable “What? They’re back to being cozy as if nothing’s happened?!?” attitude, I simply haven’t been able to take her seriously. I’m still on Aunt Marie’s side: Dump her. Granted, that’s a little tough to do right now in light of recent events, but …

Regardless, with its third episode firmly tucked beneath its belt, Grimm continues to excite.

• I didn’t see any “bad moon rising” … did you? *heheheheheheh*
• Ooowaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Wasn’t Capt Renard cute last night as he was talking to Nick about Catherine Schade, feigning obliviousness?
• I literally guffawed out loud when Wu sarcastigated to Nick at the station (below).
• Coyotls are a cringey, creepy lot. But if they truly had a pack mentality as coyotes do, they would have banded together and ripped Nick and Hank to shreds in the barn, guns be damned.
• It was nice to see Mark Pellegrino (Jacob on Lost, Supernatural) and I wouldn’t mind seeing more of him in the series. And John Pyper-Ferguson (Caprica, Alphas) has always had a certain sort of swagger I dig.
