Damages, House, How I Met Your Mother – In that order

On the nights I'm actually able to watch three or more TV shows (whether they're new, recorded or via DVD), I post my own personal ranking of how each fared against the other. Some spoilers may follow.

Damages — The season finale of Damages exceeded my expectations. I had hoped, somehow, that Tom wasn’t really dead, but the surprises presented to us as to what really went down on that final, fateful day were breathtaking. The fact that the door was left wide open for Frobisher and Winstone (Martin Short) to return, should the series continue, makes me giddy. However, if the show were to not continue, at least we’re not left with much in the way of loose ends.

House — As Deb says week in and week out, it’s amazing that the writers for House are able to come up with fresh material after so many seasons. The episodes with House messing with Wilson are some of my favorites, so this one won me over in that respect. Plus, House referring to Taub as Gollum was priceless.

How I Met Your Mother — I remember the days when this show would have been my number one pick. Nowadays it’s just “good” TV, not excellent. Some of the jokes are getting stale and the show really would benefit if they just showed us the “mother” already. I did love the game of “Drunk or Kid,” though.

Aack — I can’t wait to watch Damages tonight! Just knowing it was your #1 over two shows I enjoyed last night gives me a clue as to how good it is!
