Lost Virgin Diary – Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see

What strikes me as clever this week are a tattoo and a reference to a John Lennon lyric, which I believe is a metaphor for everything about ‘Lost’: "Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see." Am I misunderstanding the clues, the survivors or a little bit of both?

WTF Moments (Episodes 3-11):
• The first appearance of the man Jack kept seeing on the beach was a definite WTF moment. It turned out to be his dead father whom he chased like Alice following the White Rabbit in Alice in Wonderland … but my next WTF was his body really being in the casket on the plane and, if so, is it now missing on the island? Will Jack ever find the answers about his father he so desperately seeks?
• When Jack found the casket, was that the other half of the plane crash debris?
• What was with all the creepy porcelain dolls around the casket – am I the only person who doesn’t have them in my personal collection at home?
• If sunblock from Sawyer cost $5,000 on this island, I’d surely perish. My fair skin burns far too easily!
• Should they stay on the beach or head for the caves? That’s the million-dollar question!
• Who were the “Adam” and “Eve” skeletons in the cave? One of them had what looked like a white rock and a black rock, and this made me think of Locke playing his game. Is it possible they’re in a time warp and they’ve all already died on the island but their spirits don’t know it yet?
• Who hit Sayid over the head and damaged the signal transmitter – was it Danielle, “Ethan” or one of the mysterious “others?”
• Is Danielle really crazy or do the woods really whisper as Sayid heard too?
• What kind of “sickness” were the people in Danielle’s party suffering from and will it spread to Jack’s group?
• What is the hatch and where does it lead to?
• Is Kate really as cold-hearted as she seemed in the bank robbery flashback?
• The “monster” sounds more like a dinosaur now; I’d love to see a dinosaur!
• Who the fuck is “Ethan” and what does he want from Claire – her baby? Is he Danielle’s child Alex all-grown up?

Memorable Quotes:
“It’s been six days and we’re all still waiting. We have to stop waiting. We need to start figuring things out. A woman died this morning just going for a swim, and he tried to save her and now you’re about to crucify him? We can’t do this. Every man for himself is not gonna work. It’s time to start organizing. We need to figure out how we’re going to survive here. … We must learn to live together or we’re going to die alone.” – Jack

“I’ve looked into the eye of this island and what I saw was beautiful.” – Locke

“You’ll find me in the next life if not in this one.” – Nadia’s note to Sayid on the back of her photo

“Gosh, you sure know how to butter a man up, Staypuft.” – Sawyer to Hurley

It’s so exciting to read your thoughts on this series as it unfolds. I loved this series so it’s nice to be reminded of the beginning. So much happens that it is hard to remember it all. Have fun!

So, the questions about Jack’s father and Adam & Eve get answered in Season 6. Along with the sickness (which doesn’t really come up again until Season 6). For as much flack the show got for not answering any questions, I think most of the ones you pose are answered (some sooner than others.)

Charlie and Sawyer were always my favorites. Along with another character that doesn’t come about until Season 2. Oh, and Hurley. Everyone loves Hurley.

I just watched the infamous Numbers episode everyone always talks about the other night, and now that I know more about Hurley, I like him all the more :)

Hi Kim! I love these posts! I just started my fourth rewatch, and every time I see an episode, I discover something new, but there are also aspects of the show I’m realizing I take for granted because I know what happens. It’s so nice to see the show again through your eyes. Thanks so much for sharing!

We’re actually working on a book about the LOST community, and we’d love to get your feedback. Even though you’re just starting the show, you should check out our survey for LOST fans: https://tinyurl.com/nobodydoesitalone.

Have fun watching! It’s the greatest show EVER!

I’m currently watching season 4 on my 5th watch thru. Well, technically I’m on my fifth AND 6th watch thru due to the fact that I am watching it on both Netflix and blu-ray,watch ING all episodes once on each. Its a wonderful show and i seriously doubt that I’ll ever completely stop watching …. love the character development and the multi faceted story line!
