Favorite Paul Walker or Vin Diesel Movie – Poll

The summer movie season has begun with 'Fast Five.' In honor of Paul Walker and Vin Diesel, we are taking a look at our favorite movies they have starred in. Which movie is your favorite?

In honor of the beginning of the summer movie season and the #1 movie of the week, Fast Five, our first poll for CliqueClack Flicks is: What is your favorite Paul Walker or Vin Diesel movie? I took this question to the Flicks Clackers to find out which was their favorite movie, though not necessarily the best. Check out their nominations, then vote for your favorite and share your reasons in the comments.

Katie: She’s All That, even though it’s a secret shame sort of movie for me. Walker plays Freddie Prince Jr.’s friend who tries to steal the girl. I have to pick that because … it’s one of the only ones I’ve seen him in. If I had a second choice (for the Vin Diesel side), I’d pick Pitch Black. It was a cool monster/sci fi movie. There were also some weird parallels to Firefly and Serenity, including the spiritual older black man and the dangerous fugitive with crazy powers.

Jay: Wow. Other than Pitch Black, the rest of this list makes a pretty compelling argument that our species should have never bothered evolving out of the trees. Does that seem overly harsh? Go back and watch The Chronicles of Riddick. Makes you wish our monkey man ancestors never touched the monolith, doesn’t it?

ChuckJoy Ride is my favorite Paul Walker movie, it’s a neat little thriller and I ended up having to explain the ending to my friend who saw it with me and everyone else sitting around us in the theater! Eight Below was good … until I found out it wasn’t about people being trapped in the Antartic, but dogs. I was totally unprepared for that one. Can’t handle animals in distress, not even that Save the Animals commercial with Sarah McLachlan. So, I vote for Joy Ride (also with Steve Zahn) as my favorite Paul Walker film (and ladies, there is also a moment of bare buttage).

Favorite Vin Diesel film is Pitch Black because I liked how it started out as one thing and turned into another. It was just a really cool, original movie. And I liked The Chronicles of Riddick too. And xXx, but Pitch Black is the best. You should put Find Me Guilty on the list just to see if anyone saw that one with Vin and his hairpiece!

Rachel: Totally forgot about Joy Ride! I think I saw that while drunk (either that, or at 3 in the morning). I was scared out of my wits.

Deb: I was going to say Pitch Black before everyone else did, now I just seem unoriginal. Can I say Iron Giant? Vin Diesel was the voice of said giant, and we can chalk that one up to another kids’ movie that makes me cry like one!

Rachel: Most of the others on this list have been experienced in a similar way — it seems I only have time to watch the beginning, or I catch them in the middle and watch until the end. I’ve seen She’s All ThatBoiler Room, and The Fast and the Furious in that way. I do have to give a special mention to Boiler Room, since my husband LOVES that one (he works in finance). I’ve liked the parts of it I’ve seen, especially when Giovanni Ribisi makes his first sale. Maybe I should finally see it from start to finish!

Keith: Yeah I’d have to go with Pitch Black … and that’s about it. I believe it was said that the plan from the start was to have a Riddick trilogy or some-such from the start, but they just wore out his welcome. Really, Riddick was quite the badass … and then meh. [There is a third movie in the works.]

Ivey: Varsity Blues hands down no question. Blues is my all time favorite guilty pleasure. While it wouldn’t be accurate to say I grew up playing, or being around football players like that, I did, though, spend a lot of time around people who partied like that. Plus, “I don’t want. Your life.” has got to be one of the best “bad” movie quotes in history. I also think xXx is underrated as a fun, summer popcorn kinda movie.

I don’t get the Chronicles of Riddick hate. I didn’t think it was brilliant or anything, but I thought it was an enjoyable experience.

I’m glad you included Find Me Guilty in that poll. It’s a great movie, and Vin’s performance in it is simply mesmerizing. In terms of Vin Diesel movies, that’s my favorite – although a close second would be Fast & Furious because of my deep love for that whole franchise. And as Chuck mentioned, xXx was pretty cool.

As far as Paul Walker flicks, I’d stick with The Lazarus Project. It’s a bit mindbending, but he gives a great performance and parts of it are so beautifully shot. That and I found Bobby Z pretty fun. (Hilariously, Joaquim de Almeida, who played the villain in Fast Five, also played the bad guy in that.) Takers has given me motion sickness both times I’ve watched it.
