TV SHOWS COLUMNS FEATURES CHATS QUESTIONS

Webisode Clack – Flight of the Conchords; Battlestar Galactica; The Office

There’s more to TV than television. Every year — heck, every month — there are more new Internet-only shows popping up online and in podcasts, and existing shows expanding their worlds in the same way. Here are some notable things going on in the world of webisodes …

Battlestar Galactica: The Face of the Enemy #3

Anyone else wish these webisodes were just a little bit longer? The latest webisode is up, which gives us more clues into Gaeta’s relationship with a Number 8. These things are so short that writer Jane Espenson barely has time to finish speaking her thought by the time it ends.

Speaking of the commentary, I wish we’d learn more about why certain decisions were made in the story rather than the casting and rewrite details. I’ll have more to say myself next week in my Frakkin’ Clack column.

The Office: The Outburst concludes

Finally we learn what Oscar was yelling about on the phone in the first of this series. As is with most things about Oscar, it wasn’t really funny. Kevin’s reaction to the explanation spelled it out perfectly for me.

Flight of the Conchords flies again

FunnyOrDie.com has the next season premiere of HBO’s series online now, days before it premieres on TV. It seems a few shows are doing this early premiere thing online lately (30 Rock did it this season), which is another reason why I thought clacking about webisodes and online video was something worth getting into here.

And finally …

I’ll try to add a funny/interesting clip in this spot every week that’s not really associated with a “webisode,” but it’s online video nonetheless. Here’s a montage of a bunch of Sopranos “oh’s” for you:

Any webisodes or other online video you’d like me to get into next week? Be sure to let me know in the comments below!

Too short! And for me, it’s hard to buy that anyone is desires Gaeta.

bsgfan2003:

I am nervous about that possibillity. Although I don’t have anything against the character of Gaeta (for one, I’ve reserved judgement on him simply because the writers have clouded him in somewhat of a mystery as to what is good or evil in his direction). He is, like most of the characters on BSG (with the exception on Sharon and Boomer) a flawed character, as most or all of us are in real life.

The problem I have is that he is just not noble or magnificient enough for an eight. I wish I would not have watched that web thing because now my good mood is somewhat diminished about the possibillity that Gaeta ia MESSING WITH MY BELOVED EIGHTS!!!!!

“with the exception OF Sharon and Boomer” I apologize for the careless typo) hmmmmm. that “click to edit” does not seem to work on my computer.

Click edit does not work for me either.

Oh, that is the perfect phrasing. He is not “noble or magnificent enough”. To be sure, everyone has flaws, but since he lacks the “noble or magnificent factor” all that’s left is hard worker who whines too much – Hardly material to turn an 8’s head. I guess we’ll see if there were other motives for the relationship.

Were you beside yourself about Cavil?

What were the writers thinking bsgfan2003? I still won’t forgive them for mis-using Boomer that way! You know, BSG is very much like a Shakesperian tragedy in many ways. It certainly brings out all the emotions, passions, exuberant highs, and crushing disappointments…. but what a ride it has been my friend.

ps: An early Happy Holidays to you bsgfan….and everyone else as well!

Keith: While I would like a little bit more dynamic of commentary, Espenson is the writer, so I wouldn’t expect much less.

I find myself wishing that they hadn’t written the Six out, just because it would lead to less of Tim-1 and his Park worship.
