And they said that the networks couldn’t get a scripted drama to succeed during the summer. Rookie Blue was solid last year, but it has been damn good this year. I have to apologize for missing last week’s episode, as my local station decided that airing an out of market football game (I live in Redskins country, damn it, not Panthers country!) instead of Blue. Thankfully neither the President nor the Green Bay Packers kept if off the air this week.
In missing last week’s episode, I didn’t get to talk about the love connection that was a long time coming. McNally and Swarek just work as a couple, much more so than her and Jake. Their stupidity … both of them were stupid, a fact that seemed to have been glossed over until Swarek was suspended too … is proof that their connection is pretty damn strong. I was glad to see, though, that McNally wasn’t the real reason that his cover was blown.
What kind of idiot is Detective Boyd? Completely aside from covering up the murder of Brennan’s family and running an off-the-books CI, his decision to use the God’s Good Graces bordered on intentional. I thought that Boyd was both a better cop, and a better man, than he proved to be in the end. I’m surprised Swarek had the maturity not to kick his ass in the locker room.
Will Swarek and McNally live happily ever after? Honestly, I think theirs is a TV relationship that can last. Fortunately, ABC and Global have already picked the show up for another season.
In that season, it looks like we might be delivered a little Callaghan and Peck action. They teased just a little of it tonight, but even a small tease was there for a reason. This is an incredibly stupid plan. Callaghan was bad with McNally, and he’ll be an even worse match for Gail Peck. If she and Diaz are truly done, then I’d rather her not be paired up so quickly, especially with Luke. If he were killed off, I don’t think I’d miss him a bit.
For now, though, all is right with the world … if for no other reason, then just because Diaz and Epstein have kissed and made up. These two are hilarious together. They shouldn’t break up again … ever.
I’m not the least bit sure what to think of Frank and Noelle’s impending child. I’m so happy she’s finally pregnant, but I’m not sure how she and Frank will work. He’s the boss; this isn’t just a detective and rookie thing … Frank runs the entire precinct. A line has be drawn in the whole “dating at work” thing somewhere, doesn’t it?
loved this season too :)
