Chuck – Who’s Luke Skywalker? Really?!?!

Now that Morgan has the Intersect will he be able to help the team? Unfortunately, things didn't go smoothly in Chuck vs. the Bearded Bandit!

- Season 5, Episode 2 - "Chuck Versus the Bearded Bandit"

Carmichael Industries is off to a rocky start and having the Intersect as part of the team seems to be be more of a liability than an asset, unfortunately. After “Chuck vs. the Bearded Bandit,” it is clear that the Intersect is not compatible with just anyone.

It was painful to watch Morgan turn from the fun, caring friend into a power hungry, selfish wannabe superhero. The Intersect has clearly caused him brain damage that has ruined not only his personality, but his memory as well. Some people complained that Morgan getting the Intersect was just rebooting the series back to when Chuck got it. Fortunately, the story is not the same and even though I cringed at this corrupted Morgan, I’m enjoying the storyline and its potential.

Is the top secret project that Clyde Decker working on related to why Chuck was able to accept the Intersect, while others can’t? Was Chuck always the intented recipient of the Intersect? I’ve thought for a while that it wasn’t an accident and we have been given clues to that extent, but is there more to it than that?

It’s sad to see that the Intersect has taken the loyal friend, Morgan, and corrupted him to the point that he’s betraying his best friend and spy family to go to Verbanski. If he has forgotten about Indiana Jones and Luke Skywalker, what else has he forgotten?

The loss of Morgan from Carmichael Industries will be devastating, not because he is the Intersect but because he was the heart of the team.

Other stuff:

  • The Big Mike commercial was a classic — a $2000 Betamax? What memories….
  • Big Mike is not the only one over Jeffster. I hope they are retired until the finale.
  • Big Mike watching Awesome walk into the store and realizing he should be in the commercial was perfect. For the show, a realistic way to drive traffic into the Buy More and just like Awesome to do what is needed to help out his family.
  • The case that Carmichael Industries took started off much like a Leverage case. Initially, I was worried that this was the start of the episodes looking like a typical Leverage episode. Instead, they got scammed by their client. This was not a good way to start their business, but they will definitely learn from it.
  • Casey oh Casey … in love with the competition. Well, is it love or just lust? Either way, watching Casey try to call Verbanski to ask her out to dinner was precious. The strong and presumed fearless Casey brought down by his interest in a lady!
  • “They don’t believe in me. They don’t trust me. It’s clear to me you don’t either.” – Morgan
  • “I was wondering who the real Luke Skywalker was on your team.” – Verbanski
  • “One question though: who’s Luke Skywalker?” – Morgan

Hey fool, you’re right — Big Mike is not the only one over Jeffster…Lester himself was over the Jeffster thing. I hope you’re retired til the finale.

I hoper Morgan loses the intersect in the first half of the season. I’d prefer to have the fun-loving variety around for the home stretch. In the meantime, though, I always enjoy the “this is why Chuck is the best man for the intersect” story arcs.

I’m hoping for some good Buy Moron stuff when Danny Pudi makes an appearance. But I wouldn’t mind seeing a performance before the finale.
