Ratings Clack – TBS Big Bang Theory vs NBC Community?

The week between Christmas and New Years is something of a new programming wasteland, but I did manage to find a very interesting number for 'Big Bang Theory' repeats on TBS. How do you suppose those stack up against 'Community' or 'Chuck' on NBC?

Happy New Year everybody. As you may have noticed, there wasn’t a whole lot of new programming on the broadcast networks last week. In fact, between the five of them, they only managed six new shows. NBC led the pack with four — Sunday Night Football (24.02m/7.7), Who’s Still Standing (6.9m/1.5), Rock Center (3.46m/.8), and Chuck (3.18m/.8). ABC and CBS brought one each — You Deserve It (3.64m/.8) and Kennedy Center Honors (8.4m/1.1). FOX and CW had nothing. We’ll pick things back up next week.

Over on cable, there were two big finales for The Closer (6.16m/1.1) and Rizzoli & Isles (5.79m/1.1). The number that I found more interesting was the result for a repeat of Big Bang Theory (4.3m/1.8) airing on TBS. From the numbers are crazy department, that means that a repeat of Big Bang on cable beat every new episode of Community and Chuck on NBC. One could argue, things are so bad at NBC right now that they would be better off running repeats of shows on the other networks. Other cable highlights include Leverage (1.99m/.6), Teen Mom II (3.42m/1.9), Hot In Cleveland (1.87m/.4), and The Exes (1.47m/.3)

I do hope TBBT can take a page from NCIS‘s book and leverage its syndication reruns into increased popularity for the first-run show.

Sidenote: The extras on the Archer Season 2 set must be viewed immediately, particularly “L’espion Mal Fait.” And they’ve got to get Burt Reynolds for Season 3. However, the exclusion of “Heart of Archness” was criminal, since my friend missed those episodes.
