Game of Thrones – Anyone can be killed

Poor Theon, still having problems; if he can’t get his family to believe in him, it shouldn’t be surprising that he can’t get his men to believe in him either. Perhaps taking Torrhen’s Square instead of the fishing villages like his father directed him will provide him with a chance to prove himself to his men and his family both. That pregnant pause that he and the first mate shared, however, indicates that Torrhen’s Square isn’t the only change to his orders he is planning.

It is nice to see that Dany has finally escaped the Red Waste, but I think she’s traded one set of dangers for another. It is too early to tell who her friends are in Qarth, or if she has any at all. I’m most interested in the masked woman who presented herself to Ser Jorah. Her intentions are no less difficult to predict than any of the people we’ve met in Qarth thus far, but I’m more interested in what she has to say than either Daxos’ proposal or Pyat Pree’s parlor tricks. I am worried, however, at the growing dissention in the Khaleesi’s ranks. From her doubting Jorah, to the discord between her handmaidens, Qarth is taking a toll on her people that Dany does not yet see.

Finally, we cannot ignore the happenings in King’s Landing. Tyrion’s turning Lancel to be his spy last week paid immediate dividends. The moment the Imp stepped into the vault of wildfire was, if you’ll forgive the pun, a large one. The pyromancer’s substance is pretty scary, but is it too unstable for Tyrion to be able to use it to defend the city?
